The All Time Worst Saints Players in Team History (Offense, Part 1)

Re: The All Time Worst Saints Players in Team History (Offense, Part 1)
From Deadspin list: 53. Curtis DeLoatch; cornerback; Giants, Saints, Panthers; 2004-07: Save for covering and tackling, awfully good.
They forgot to mention that he recovered a Steve Gleason blocked punt and scored a touchdown. |
Re: The All Time Worst Saints Players in Team History (Offense, Part 1)
Jason David was better than he is given credit for. His performance was poor but he didn't fit the system and was strictly a man corner.

Re: The All Time Worst Saints Players in Team History (Offense, Part 1)
Those linebackers during the Haslett era: Hodge, Clemons, Allen, Fincher, Watson, etc. Darrin Smith was the only one worth a darn.
Also, ALEX MOLDEN! *puke* |
Re: The All Time Worst Saints Players in Team History (Offense, Part 1)
I was going to say Cam Cleeland but that man had some serious injuries that he still has not recovered from. You can do a search and read about it, kinda sad because he had one solid season then nothing.
My vote is for Alex Molden. All the talent in the world but would play a mile off of WR's. I wanted to close line him more than I wanted the Saints to win the game. Never could figure him out. |
Re: The All Time Worst Saints Players in Team History (Offense, Part 1)
I would say kevin kaesviharn and fred thomas both were always a day late and a dollar short on the field, atm's
The end is nigh |

Re: The All Time Worst Saints Players in Team History (Offense, Part 1)
Jason David was too small to be a man corner; he had a great season in a weak division Colts division...
Anyway, if this is offense, anyone that played with Archie Manning; the man's talent was off the charts then and the Saints FO never put any reasonable complements around him and when they got something (Wes Chandler) off they went... I also put George Rogers and Chuck Muncie in the group because they let their narcotics ruin their play - and when good people were spending good money in the belief the team could be competitive... |
Re: The All Time Worst Saints Players in Team History (Offense, Part 1)
Richard Todd is another one who needs consideration. I do agree however that Heath Shuler was worse.

Re: The All Time Worst Saints Players in Team History (Offense, Part 1)
Heath Shuler,,,, Man did i love him college. I wanted him to be great.

Re: The All Time Worst Saints Players in Team History (Offense, Part 1)
Fred Thomas was only bad for one season at the end of his career, when his legs gave out because he was like 34 years old. He was solid to very good otherwise and a bright spot on some really bad defenses.
I think it's really unfair that he's remembered as a bad player because in fact the exact opposite was true. Especially considering he spent most of his career surrounded by trash like Josh Bullocks, Tebucky Jones, Jason Craft, etc. |
Re: The All Time Worst Saints Players in Team History (Offense, Part 1)
Jason craft, kevin kaesviharn, josh bullocks...I'm starting to get really bad flashbacks of their defensive play now

When was the last time our defense was truly good? Our personnel was worse then it is now during our Super Bowl run. Sharper and Gregg deserve so much credit.

I guess what I'm asking is...what would have put him on the "worst" list ? Decent or average, sure, but worst ? |

With out looking at stats, my keyboard wants to add Martine Gramattica to the list.

Re: The All Time Worst Saints Players in Team History (Offense, Part 1)
Don't forget that Cleeland was almost blinded in that hazing incident.

Re: The All Time Worst Saints Players in Team History (Offense, Part 1)
It is hard not to bulk together the entire rosters from 1967 through 1987, holding out a dozen or so players, and calling them the worst Saints of all-time. There were more than a few for whom thinking and breathing simultaneously were sufficient challenges.
