You can also just ask some of us that have been fans since day one of the franchise. I was nine when my dad was transferred to Barksdale AFB in northwestern Louisiana in the early summer of 1967. I was more of a baseball fan at the time, but did follow as much NFL as I could. I was overjoyed when I discovered that my new home state was getting its own NFL team. The rest is history.
