Re: How will Will Smith's transition from DE to OLB go?
Pre-draft 167lbs, now, 285-290lbs. He would have to drop 20lbs to even be marginally effective. Remember Spags was entertaining DT for a while. If he shows up to camp at 280 forget it.

But you're right that the norm is to shed players as they hit 30 because A) Their recovery is longer, and B) Their cap hit is usually larger |
Re: How will Will Smith's transition from DE to OLB go?
Here's the problem I have with Will Smith as an OLB...
You know he's not going to cover, so you can predict what he's gonna do... And for those that suggest the element of surprise, well, unless the opposing QB loses composure from laughter, the defense with regards to Smith will be...predictable... And when you're predictable... |
Re: How will Will Smith's transition from DE to OLB go?
Smith is 32 and in his 8th season.... He has only managed over 8 sacks in three seasons during his career (2005, 2006, 2009). Thats 1 sack every two games minimum.
Smith was never here consistently to "come back".. Jordan is out hope, Smith is shot. |
