Re: John DeShazier: Will Smith making a seamless switch to outside linebacker
These guys don't normally say bad things about the players do they?

That makes me think he will be putting a safety in slot to cover that man, e.g vaccaro |

Put a safety on him and he out muscles him. Put a CB on him and ... well... just watch highlights of our game against the Falcons and see what Gonzalez did to Greer and P-rob. |
Re: John DeShazier: Will Smith making a seamless switch to outside linebacker
I read somewhere that RR dropped LBs into coverage only 18% of the time last year, utilizing the safeties in coverage more.

Re: John DeShazier: Will Smith making a seamless switch to outside linebacker
I had been down on Smith in the past but I have hopes for him this year. He got a lot of sacks during our superbowl run because other teams could not constantly double team him and we had better linemen then drawing some attention making that possible. Thats why Jordan got 8 sacks last year because Smith was the one they were more concerned with. He is a better player than Jordan and I think he's got something to prove and wants another ring.

A couple of years ago maybe, but cam is a beast and has showed he can perform in any scheme 4-3 or 3-4 |

Re: John DeShazier: Will Smith making a seamless switch to outside linebacker
I don't know; I'm starting to like that he may start at LB. From all reports, his pass coverage has been improving and RR only drops the LBs in coverage roughly 20% of the time.
That other 80%, his size/strength can be well used to set the edge and hopefully blow up any TE/RB trying to block him when he's rushing the passer... |
