Why Sproles is slower
According to this BMI calculator, at 5'7" 190lbs he's obese!
American Dietetic Association Needs to get down to 129 for a normal BMI . |
Re: Why Sproles is slower
I've never seen the point of BMI, it doesnt count the amount of muscle that contributes to that weight - muscle weighs more than fat
BMI would also say jimmy graham and Colston are obese |
Re: Why Sproles is slower
My weight is ideal at 250 lbs. I'm just about 6 inches too short for that weight. :p

Re: Why Sproles is slower
Could you image a player in the NFL at 129lbs lol! Might be healthy but he'd be crushed like a bug in the ground.
Obviously this chart is for normal people but it does show how these players can wind up with serious health issues later in life trying to take off all those extra lbs. Linemen though, they are actually obese, most of them anyway. The NFL talks about fitness a lot but when it comes down to it they actually encourage poor fitness for specific positons when you really look at it. |
Re: Why Sproles is slower
After a BMI is done a pool scale is used to determine fat% v/v wt.

I know what you are saying but muscle and fat weigh the same. A lb of feathers weighs the same as a lb of steel. Makes no difference. What you are talking about is mass, meaning you can fit something more dense into the same space, like filling two cubes of the same size with different materials. The one full of muscle will be heavier than the one with fat. |
Re: Why Sproles is slower
That is why the pool scale is the most accurate, fat floats... muscle and bone do not.

Re: Why Sproles is slower
Yep, that's why Sproles is Mighty Mouse instead of Mickey Mouse.

Re: Why Sproles is slower
I'm 5'7" and definitely over weight but if got down to 129 I'd be skin and bones. My ideal weight would probably be about 165. Those charts ridiculous.
