New Orleans Saints could sign Washington Redskins Devery Henderson?
 

The New Orleans Saints are currently in search of a wide receiver to replace the injured Joe Morgan, who went down Saturday with multiple knee injuries.

One such name that has popped up is current Washington Redskins receiver, Devery Henderson who is reportedly sixth on the Redskins depth chart and is likely to be waived prior to camp ending.

The New Orleans Times is reporting the Saints may try to scoop Henderson up if the Skins let him go:


For #fantasyfootball purposes, too early to predict who will fill #Saints Joe Morgan void. Veteran Steve Breaston has a real opportunity if he can prove he’s healthy/refreshed, although he’s more of a shifty slot receiver than a deep threat. If not Breaston, maybe the Saints look at another veteran like Laurent Robinson. Devery Henderson would be a perfect fit if he doesn’t crack the Redskins roster.

Henderson of course has spent all nine seasons of his career with the Saints and could be back for a tenth if given his walking papers by the Redskins this training camp.

You thank Devery for what he did but he was allowed to leave for a reason.
Give the plsyers on the roster a game or two and see what they can fo.

A lot of people could.

I can't see signing a one trick pony (if he can still do that trick) out of necessity. Those are luxuries.

If he becomes available it is because he lost his knack for that one trick.

Devery was awesome for us but his top end speed is not what it used to be

Sure we have lost morgan, but kenny stills is fast and we havent given him or nick toon a chance yet

I would not have a problem with this. He knows the team, the system, Drew. I think he could still be an asset - as long as we get him cheap.

I heard Meachem could be available as well...not at all saying that the Saints should go for him either, just something to note.
Honestly, Preston Parker, Toon and Tanner all looked awesome. Stills needs some work, but he will be money as well.

If Robert Meachem gets the boot in SD. I would scoop him up in a NY second. Iknow he had a terrible year in SD. He was an asset here ánd would be wise to come play with the QB that helped him get 14 milllon in FA.

Stills is the future for that need. I like Henderson, but it ain't gonna happen.

I am sure they still have his phone number in the rolodex, but there'd have to be some pretty drastic injuries or shakeups for them to actually need to call him. We are fully loaded at WR right now.

Here is why not....


Because at this stage of the season there are only so many reps to be taken and to give Henderson, Meachem... Anyone other than what we have is taking much needed reps from Tanner/Toon/Stills/Breaston. These 4 guys need each and every rep they can get before the season starts.


There are certain situations when just kicking the tires takes away and does do some harm.

If that is not good enough reason then the fact that we let them go for a reason having only to do with their performance should be.

If for one second Sean Payton thought Henderson had what we need he would have been on the first flight to NO after he was released.

Robinson has had a really odd career when he completely exploded for Dallas while back then didn't even come back with the team (or do anything elsewhere). Anyone have any idea why?

I'm fairly sure at this point of his career, and for some time, his place in the Saints offence went a little like this.

1 - Devery, you are going to block for Colston/Moore/Graham. Give them an edge.

2 - Run as fast as you can on a deep route and if you can get separation ...... sorry if they have a blown coverage, we'll throw it to you

Love what he did for us. Great guy. Did a job. Not coming back. Waste of reps for the youngsters.

Injuries. He's had more concussions than Austin Collie and ankle/knee problems besides that.

A fast WR with stone hands still has stone hands. I would rather split out our TE's than sign him because of "speed".
