Charles Brown

Well the 10 ton elephant in the tent was Charles Brown. I just re-watched our drive against KC, and Charles kept his guy out of the play, and off of Drew the entire drive. I've also not seen mention of his performance as of yet.

Good job Charles

Charles and Armstead both played well when they were in

Yeah, I was waiting for a tackle f*** up and the line looked pretty solid all the way across. Now Charles, do that in all of the real games and Who Dat Nation will put a statue of you up somewhere.

I'm hoping he will be the next Pro Bowl left tackle out of nowhere.

He graded excellent. Gave up zero pressures. It was encouraging to say the least

Bushrod who?

Re: Charles Brown

He certainly looked every bit as capable as Bushrod so I don't foresee any drop-off. Hell, he could end up being better than Bushrod once he gets comfortable and starts to get more confident at left tackle.

Re: Charles Brown

Now if we can replace Zach Strief with Marcel Jones on the right side, we might be in business.

Re: Charles Brown

Strief played a good game. Marcel struggled against backups. He's got a long way to go.

He did a good job

I dont think that his performance was in question as much as his durability. I hope he can stay healthy.

Re: Charles Brown

No way Marcel is better than Strief at this point. He completely whiffed a block and seemed flat-footed out there. I think it's gonna take a lot to develop thos guy.

Everything was in question and still may be. Performance was in question because ... well... he hasn't been healthy long enough for us to know what his performance is.

That play where drew was nearly sacked in that pile was on Grubs, he didnt handle his man and that caused the pocket to collapse..

We still have a lot more play time before I am going to be comfortable enough with Brown where I am not watching only him, but we are off to a good start.

I liked him.
Armstead looked good too.
I'll sleep a little better now.

Regarding OT's, I watched Strief throughout his time playing in the game and thought to myself, "What a solid RT the Saints have."

A healthy Strief is the best RT we've had since Jammal Brown. He just needs to stay healthy.

Brown is a very servicable LT, if he can stay healthy too.

Re: Charles Brown

If Armestead and Brown continue to play well and stay healthy.. Strief could possibly be replaced by moving Armestead to RT next season.

Re: Charles Brown

IMO Charlie Brown was always the best left tackle on the roster including Bushrod, he couldn't stay healthy to prove it. Lets all hope he stays healthy this year bc there is absolutely no one to take his place if he goes down. No Way I trust Armstead with my franchise QB, he's still a rookie and did nothing to prove otherwise Friday night.

Re: Charles Brown

Brown doesn't have to be a stud, he just has to be decent. The only thing that semi-concerns me is that Bushrod was an awesome run blocker and Brown hasn't been seen as a guy that will push people around like that.

Strief is a very solid RT. I wouldn't even mind him at LT if the situation changes. People forget but he played there a couple of times in 09 and looked real good.

TheOak 08-12-2013 02:42 PM

Re: Charles Brown

There is nothing statistically that shows that we run better to the left than to the right.

If anything we run better Middle/Right off of Evans.

Not sure how you get Bushrod was an awesome run blocker.

The O line was a huge positive. I am worried about LB.

Re: Charles Brown

I would love to see Farmstead play well enough to supplant Strief and play RT until he grows into LT. Lots of teams groom LTs at RT
