New Orleans Saints linebacker Curtis Lofton leaves Monday's practice early
1 Attachment(s)
It was another hot morning Monday at New Orleans Saints camp. It may have affected linebacker Curtis Lofton, who left practice early with a trainer.
Saints coach Sean Payton said he thought Lofton was cramping due to the heat and didn't think it was serious. Linebacker Jonathan Vilma, who sat out Friday's game and Sunday's practice, participated fully Monday. Linebacker Chris Chamberlain was the newest Saint to sit out practice for an unspecified reason, along with running back Pierre Thomas, linebackers Junior Galette, Martez Wilson and Ray Shipman, and offensive linemen Andrew Tiller and Eric Olsen. Payton didn't have any new updates on Thomas' injury. New Orleans Saints linebacker Curtis Lofton leaves Monday's practice early | NOLA.com |

Why run camp in this heat when they will never be playing in it? They should be running camp in Oxnard like the Cowboys do.

Re: New Orleans Saints linebacker Curtis Lofton leaves Monday's practice early
For me this is good news. I think Coach Payton doesn't want anymore injuries and coaches are pulling players who are fatigued off the field. Injuries are common during the first part of training camp and that's somewhat unavoidable. Players come to camp in the condition they come and that's that.
If players are continually getting hurt later in camp, then shame on the coaches for pushing too hard. I think they're getting into more regular season practice mode. |

There are pros and cons with having the camp at home. The pro being you don't have to relocate all the equipment, you have your ordinary facilities with training equipment, film rooms, offices etc. The flexibility of practicing indoors or outdoors.
The cons are distractions. At home you are close to family and friends and other interests which might make it harder for a player to focus just on football. |

They will have to play real games where it is just as hot Tampa for example. They can get acclimated to cooler weather as it slowly comes but you need to start out ready for "Africa hot"
