Drew Brees runs the option twice in practice

I read that tweet from Holder and my head suddenly felt like splitting..then he said 'Don't fear. Brees is running Raiders plays for the defense to see." LOL

Tweet History if anyone cares to read.

Re: Drew Brees runs the option twice in practice

Trippet ~ #Saints defense got the better of offense for most of practice again today, ending with controversial "win" in 2-minute drill. Malcolm Jenkins killed drive with interception, cutting in front of lance Moore. But Jimmy Graham might have scored a 65-yard TD a few plays earlier. They ruled him down because S Roman Harper got a hand on him, but graham may have been able to break the tackle if it was full contact. ... DT Akiem Hicks had a monster practice, including a batted pass and tackling Darren Sproles for a loss during that final drill. ... Great catch by Nick Toon among other highlights.

I could see Payton mixing in some pistol but without Drew running the option just for formation and to find/abuse mismatches

As long as he slides 3 yards before anyone touches him I'm OK with it.

Is there a slide-snap?

Definitely leave that at practice and only when he wears a red jersey!

Hmmmmmmm................
That sounds a little foolish even from Payton.

I thought that was why we brought Seneca in? To teach our D this stuff? Get Brees outta there, FOO!

"They ruled him down because S Roman Harper got a hand on him..."
If Harper tackled everyone he "got a hand on," he'd be a hall of famer...
The problem is, he doesn't tackle everyone he gets a hand on.

The flip-side is that Graham nearly always goes down on first contact.
That is a huge hole in his skill set.

I'd tend to agree with Rocky on this. Not EVERY time, but I'd say MOST times.

Excellent observation my friend. I've stated that as well on a couple occasions. For such a big athletic man, he drops like a rock on contact.

Not *****ing, just nit picking. He's a top 5 TE, with potential to be #1.

If thats all we have to nit pick, he's obviously a superstar.

Are we trying to get out of Drew's contract with a medical retirement?!?

After watching Seneca Wallace in the game tonight, in hindsight I can see why Drew was running those plays. Seneca was useless out there. I can't see him teaching a defense much of anything.

I don't think old Seneca will be around. Whers was R own RG3
