Three headed monster...
I think the the three headed monster is really .... a monster. I noted, again, that in the last preseason game I could call the running plays pretty easily. We haven't been bad running the ball but we haven't been very good either. I think the prob is worse with three RBs when we are in one back personnel. Last season it was dreadfully obvious - when ivory came in to the backfield defenses knew we were going to give him the rock and seemed to call the right plays against us.
This year it seems the same. We haven't seen much of PT yet but when we see Sproles it seems most often it will be a screen to him and when Ingram is out there it's going to be a hand off. Now, yes, I did note they threw a screen to Ingram for a good play and they attempted to run Sproles up the gut. But these type plays are rare. Personally I would rather we go to one headed monster that leaves opponents guessing. Ingram or PT could be that guy as they can catch screens and are strong runners. I'd play Sproles in two back personnel packages only. When you have one guy out there most of the game it gets very difficult to determine when or what kind of play the RB is being used in. ( plus it would help my fantasy team! Ha!) I'm not sure why we don't do this. Our current strategy has become pretty predictable in my opinion. |
Re: Three headed monster...
It's preseason! PT has been injured and hasn't played much. Sproles is just as dynamic as ever. Robinson looks to be kind of Ivory like.
And Payton gave a glimpse at his varied calls when he ran a screen with Ingram. But he has to keep the calls vanilla or teams will have good tape for the regular season |
Re: Three headed monster...
Runs toward the outside look better than they have in a while.

Re: Three headed monster...
Interesting that Ivory was used as an example..... They knew what was coming and he was still successful.
That says a lot about everyone. |
Re: Three headed monster...
Robinson reminds me of a young Pierre Thomas more than Chris Ivory. Only a bit bigger and faster.

Re: Three headed monster...
With the guards we have, we should be able to line up and drive 5 yards and a cloud of dust with Ingram...

Re: Three headed monster...
yeah its preseason... its just running plays and different packages its not a real game plan that will be used during the season... RELAX
IVORY was good! Only thing held him back was injury. |
Re: Three headed monster...
It wasn't just Ivory last season. Sproles and Ingram had a rough go of it too.
It's amazing how one dimensional our running game is even though we have three RBs. |

spring in his step. In preseason, there's always that one guy for us..... |
Re: Three headed monster...
Imgram looks the same to me I see no improvement in Him. I think he is subpar to PT and even Robinson.

Re: Three headed monster...
Ivory ran like a bull with his balls on fire. He'd just flat run over your ass if you were in his way. He doesn't have half the moves this Robinson kid has. Ivory ran aliitle more upright too.
I don't see Chris Ivory in him at all, other than he runs with good power. |
Re: Three headed monster...
Dammit just run the ball. Run Run Run
