Can We Talk Ivory2.0...aka Khiry Robinson

Ok Guys, Maybe not that far along yet, But....

The Kid is looking impressive in the preseason, which i expect of any young rook trying to make a squad. I've literally waited to see Coach Payton put this kin in towards the end of games to see what he can do. From what i've gathered i'd love to see what kind of talent he displays running with the ones. Great pass catcher, runs the screen well(which we love to call) and runs hard and through defenders while displaying great balance...kind of like What i saw in Eddie Lacy this last preseason game. Now I'm not saying he is the next big thing or should be 1 or 2 on the depth chart, but i think so far he deserves to be in "the Best 53" as Payton has been saying. I was never sold on Cadet he had a decent preseason last year, but was irrelevant last year in the time he received and in this years preseason, especially with the two fumbles this past friday. Khiry has looked impressive despite running behind the same line and fewer opportunities.

What are some of yalls thoughts here? either on Khiry or any other Young buck

How about Khiry 1.0? His name isn't Chris Ivory.

Yeah, I'm impressed, he should make the 53. He should replace Ingram, if Ingram doesn't step up, of course.

Re: Can We Talk Ivory2.0...aka Khiry Robinson

Its funny you referred him to Chris Ivory because ever since I saw his running style, thats who he reminds me of.

I still like Cadet though.

Re: Can We Talk Ivory2.0...aka Khiry Robinson

Cadet sure had a rough night. I felt better on his returns though... he looked
like he had a comfortable handle there...

Robinson was very impressive. Even stopped to barf on the sideline, which
amazes me, because I dont like to run on an upset stomach. I hope he
feels better. He looked like a bullet.

Haha! When I first saw the subject line, I thought he'd hurt his hammy!

He looks much more promising than Ivory did, and I was pimping Chris 3 days into his rookie camp.

They have different running styles and Robinson has much better moves and vision.

I just don't understand the Ivory comparisons at all, other than he wears #29.

Yeah, barfing on the sidelines then going back in the game = automatic roster spot on team SaintsBro

Yes, have a UDFA replace the first round pick who lead the team in rushing last season instead of the other UDFA who can't hang onto the football during the preseason.

Why did we draft #22 again and give up the picks to get him?

Re: Can We Talk Ivory2.0...aka Khiry Robinson

get him off the third string and put him in with at least the second stringer and lets talk then. 4th quarter means little. Lets see when he hits the field against the texans

Look at it this way, had we not drafted him, we would have lost the pick the following year, due to Bounty Gate...

Because we had zero healthy RB's.

...nobody seems to remember that at the time of the Ingram draft, Pierre Thomas was on crutches, no one knew for sure if his ankle surgery was successful or not. It was NOT a given that Pierre would be back to his old self on the field, at all. At the same time they knew Bush was all but gone to another team; and Ivory was wearing a boot and could not run AT ALL after his Lisfranc surgery. They had NOBODY in the backfield in March that was 100% guaranteed to be there in the fall of 2011.

Ingram also dropped. I remember people on here saying no way we would have a shot. Think he dropped about 5 spots so it looked like a solid move.

Practice squad 2013. 2014 #2 RB.

Because of the Seattle playoff game loss. That was the only reason.

Barfing and running...........someone got a little too hot.

Re: Can We Talk Ivory2.0...aka Khiry Robinson

LOL, I read where he actually barfed on the field and Payton took him out, then Robinson was arguing his case to come back in and barfed again on the sidelines.

That kid wants a friggin roster spot!

No practice squad. It's just like being on waivers. Any team can sign any player off a practice squad. Like the Lions did with Bell.

But the Saints can match any offer made and keep him, they just have to activate him to the 53 for 3 weeks minimum.

Unless he looks like the 2nd coming of Marshall Faulk this Sunday, I tend to agree.

Cadet is the one who can't hang onto the ball. The only reason Ingram lead the team in rushing, is because they fed him the ball more than any other player. Don't get me wrong, I think Ingram has some special talent, he's just not the right player for our team. Khiry is better, from what I've seen so far. He has more explosiveness than Ingram or Ivory (He was running straight up the middle just like Ingram, and Khiry was still getting more yards than Ingram). Yes, It was the Raiders, and it was preseason, but Khiry made their defense look even worse than it actually was. I think Khiry has a great future ahead of him, with the Saints.

Re: Can We Talk Ivory2.0...aka Khiry Robinson

Hate to lose a guy like Cadet. I know he fumbled twice but I think he's a very versatile player who can do a lot of things for a team. He's a decent runner and a very good receiver plus he plays special teams.

Robinson looks like he could be a real find though. I wouldn't be heart broken if somebody beat out Mark Ingram.

His field vision and decisiveness look to be very strong.

Have to see how well he protects the ball.

That is always a killer.

So, is Robinson already hurt, then?

Re: Can We Talk Ivory2.0...aka Khiry Robinson

My problem all along with the drafting of Mark Ingram has not been the need (with the injuries to RBs that prior season), but the need to trade multiple draft choices to move into the NFL draft 1st round to draft a running back that was never considered a "can't miss" prospect. If you want to look at all of the Saints' success at signing free agent RBs after the draft (PT, Ivory, now Robinson?), why not also understand that there were plenty of opportunities to draft a rookie running back without giving up multiple picks and moving into round one. In my opinion it was a mistake then, and (in my opinion) the Saints are still hurting from losing an extra pick in that draft.

Thats a completely different argument than whether or not Ingram is a good RB.

Re: Can We Talk Ivory2.0...aka Khiry Robinson

Robinson keeps getting caught from behind by pursuit. He spends too much time dancing when he needs to hit a hole and get the yards. We had another running back that used to do that. Hmmm.........

I am going to go with Khiry Robinson leading the team in total yards rushing and ave gain/rush that its not an issue. He also has zero fumbles and in the top 5 receivers.
