SAME OLD SAINTS
There's not much more that can be said beyond the title of this thread.
They will always find a way to lose to teams that they should dominate. At this point, it's time for a change. I have a hard time expecting much more than same old, same old from this team. We will probably win next week, but I won't take it as much. Up, down, up, down. IMO - Atlanta locked up the division today, and the Saints proved once and for all that they will never have a winning tradition with this coaching staff. It is time for a change. Honestly, I think I would prefer 2-14 and a change at coach over 10-6 and playoffs this season. This team has no clue what it means to be consistent winners. Only a new coach will change that, IMO. |
SAME OLD SAINTS
WHODAT I WOULD AGREE. WE WILL PROBALLY WIN NEXT WEEK N THATS THE WORSE CASE SENARIO. ITS NOT THAT I DONT LIKE WINNING I DO AS MUCH AS ANYONE. BUT ITS TIME FOR THIS FRANCHISE TO FIND SOMEONE WHO CAN DO THAT FOR US ON A REGULAR BASIS. LIKE THE EAGELS. THEY WIN WHEN THEY HAVE LESS TALENT THEN WE DO. THAT SHOULD SAY ENOUGH ABOUT COACHING RIGHT THERE. BUT ILL TAKE IT A BIT FURTHER. THE GAMES WE PLAYED AGAINST THE REDSKINS WHEN THEY HAD THEY HAD SPURRIER WERE BATTLES. AT LEAST ONE WE SHOULD HAV LOST. THAT LETS U KNOW WHERE OUR COACHING STAFF IS. FOR GOD SAKES WE NEED A CHANGE. ALL I WILL SAY IS THIS. I SAID THIS EARLIER IN THE YEAR. IF WE HAD DENNIS GREEN WE WOULD BE IN THE NFC CHAMPIONSHIP. END OF STORY

SAME OLD SAINTS
spkb25 I too wanted to see Denny Green come to the Saints. But as long as T. Benson is running things, I don\'t think we will ever have a team like we all want. Man I been a fan since 1967. And in all those years you\'d think that the Saints would have at least made a SuperBowl appearance. But no it\'s always the Same Ole Saints. Give you just enough to get you to liking it and then just lay the hell down and quit.

SAME OLD SAINTS
saints fan 1967 we need an overhaul. we frigan need a whole regime change if benson wont do whats needed. dang we have a team. we just need a coach

SAME OLD SAINTS
Well spkb25 I agree we do have more talent than i\'ve ever seen on a Saints team. We just did someone who can put it togather and hold them together. I started wondiing about Haslett after the \'01 season. And then after the \'02 season I had no foults about him. He has no control over his players. I mean look at that cell phone thing with Horn last year. A lot of people thought that was real cute. I saw it as sign that the Head Coach has no control over his players. I would have put him on the bench so fast for doing that that he would be wondering if I was ever going to play him again. Haslett is whats wrong. And I honestly believe that had Jim Finks lived we woukd have seen the Saints in the SuperBowl.

SAME OLD SAINTS
I honestly think that Tom Benson is one of the stupidest owners in the league. His standards of winning are WAY too low for him to be an effective team owner.
The only reason he extended Haslett\'s contract is because he \"won\" the Saints\' first playoff game. He believed at the time that Haslett would be a good coach. So what does he do after that? He lets Ron Zook sign with Florida and runs off Rany Mueller, claiming that \"he never told him about the Ricky Williams trade.\" BOOOHOOO Benson! Randy Mueller builds the 2000 team from the ground up, trades for a young Aaron Brooks, drafts Deuce McAllister, and trades away a disgruntled Ricky Williams for a 1st round draft pick. Nice job, Benson. I\'m sure that the collective force of Haslett and Loomis are doing ten times better than that Mueller guy! :casstet: Just because an owner sets ticket prices below the team average doesn\'t automatically mean he\'s a good owner. A good owner cares about winning and is angry when a team loses to one of the worst teams in the league. And a good owner knows that you don\'t spend tens of millions of dollars on overrated draft picks (Johnathan Sullivan). I can\'t wait for this bonehead to leave the office. I\'d rather have his daughter running the team than him. |

As far as hoping for a bad record - we had this discussion last season, WhoDat. I can\'t bring myself to root for the opposing team, at least not from the start of the game. Yesterday I wanted the Cardinals to score that last TD ... anyway, the way they are playing so far I don\'t see a record near 8-8 and we may all get our wish. |
SAME OLD SAINTS
Same Old Saints?
I disagree. We have much more talent than any team we\'ve ever had. Previous Saints teams were bad top to bottom, players and coaches. I\'m not there with you yet on wanting to finish 2-14 but I wouldn\'t mind seeing Haz fired immediately and Venturi/McCarthy/Pease take over as interim. I thought we might lose against the Cards but I never ever expected a complete blow-out. I thought this coaching staff was really bad, but it appears I\'ve overestimated them. |
SAME OLD SAINTS
I disagree Danno. Yes these are the Same Ole Saints!! It\'s got nothing to do with the players and coaches when I say that. The point is that there playing just like the Saints of old. How many times have we seen teams and players have carreer days against us. They let a washed up ole has been RB have a carreer day. All the sports channels will be showing it. How many times have we seen this in the past? I mean this is embarrassing. How long will the fans put up with this?

SAME OLD SAINTS
This is just an observation that has not much to do with this post, but does everyone remember the hype at the beginning of the season? Haslett was the key guy to hype this team up for us fans, and rightfully so. That\'s what a head coach is supposed to do. BUT, his hype was like every year before. Full of BS. One of the personnel that I saw being hyped on this board was Coach Pease. What on Earth has this guy done to improve the defensive line? The only person I\'ve seen thus far that has played top notch has been Charles Grant, but he always overplays the run. In my honest opinion, Pease was hyped up much more than he should. Is it that he\'s a bad coach? No, absolutely not. He\'s just a secondary defensive coach of one section of the defense that falls behind RICK VENTURI. Now is Rick Venturi a bad coach? Yes, absolutely. Still, Pease hasn\'t done anything different with this years version of the D-line that has been seen in the past few seasons with Venturi at coordinator.
Now as far as the same old Saints, I\'m in total agreement. I don\'t really care how much talent is on the team. If it\'s not being utilized to it\'s full capability and the outcome of a game remains the same, with the same stupid mistakes, then that makes the Saints the SAME OLD TEAM. They come off a big win one week to play down to a bottom-feeding team. In everyone\'s mind and on paper, there is NO WAY the Saints should have lost this game. In the real world though, is anyone really surprised? I know I predicted the Saints to win in a blowout, but that\'s what I felt they SHOULD HAVE DONE. I tried to keep my hopes high and think that maybe this team just needs a little more time to come together and by midseason, they\'d really start their stretch run. Well, after seeing yesterday\'s debacle, I\'m right there with everyone else about making a change at the top RIGHT NOW. This team is pathetic as long as Haslett is the coach. It\'s time to bring in a real coach who knows what the hell he is doing. I just got through witnessing my Cubs fall to pieces the last week of the season after a long season of high hopes. I don\'t think my heart and my stress level can take much more punishment of watching a season of the Saints up-and-down performances. I\'m with Whodat on this. I kind of wish that the Saints would lose out the rest of the season, bring in a new coach with some attitude, a GM that knows more than figuring numbers, and draft someone that will help this team immediately. Bring in some free agents that know how to play the game and aren\'t perrenial back-ups with \"potential\". Clean house on some of the chumps that are taking up space in a jersey that could be worn by someone with some desire. LORD, IF YOU HEAR MY PRAYER, MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!!!!!! |
SAME OLD SAINTS
Can we change the Who Dat? catch phrase to What the....? Yesterday was a horrible display! There is no excuse for the numerous offsides and false start penalties. They re not rookie mistakes, they are little league crap! Not to mention Aaron throwing into triple and double coverage trying to force a play! I dont know what the fix is and I\'m not gonna pretend i do. But i do know that i\'m about tired of this BS.

SAME OLD SAINTS
I\'m afraid its only gonna get worse without duece.
I just seen absolutely no fire yesterday in any players. Where is the discipline. Maybe coaches should start giving out fines to players who keep making these meathead penalties. The whole team gave up in the 4th quarter after that offside call mel mitchell. He had a great game too but that will be what I remember the most about his game. As far the coaches.. everyone must go. McCarthy does not know how to utilize the talent. we rushed for 11 times.. How predictable is that. RunDefense?? what the hell... I can wait to see what priest holmes will do to us.. As long as benson\'s sells out the dome there will be no change. We will lose all our players first.. Benson is a greedy businessman.. He\'s not worried about wins/loses.. its all about the money. |
SAME OLD SAINTS
You re right, McCarthy sucks! But I dont know who would be a better (or available for that matter) replacement for Hasslet.
|
SAME OLD SAINTS
I have to say that this team has the most talent of any team we have put together in a long time..........leadership and motivation on the field and on the sidelines is lacking.
