Re: Hear Me Out ... ( Roman Harper )
Yeah, I was just about to say I think Harper can be kind of the hybrid linebacker/safety guy that comes in on nickel downs and covers that zone in between the 2nd and 3rd level. If anybody remembers Chris Oldham from way back in the day he was a similar player to Harper and was a pretty important role player for that 2000 team.

Re: Hear Me Out ... ( Roman Harper )
He's not even big enough for strong safety really. Whatever else you might want to say about him the man has been making a living for eight years now of going toe toe with some of the baddest boys on the planet. Even if Vacarro takes his starting job there's always a place for a guy like Harper. He's old school.

if he could catch he would be great

Re: Hear Me Out ... ( Roman Harper )
How is it possible that with all the DBs that have been through here in the last 10 years we have only found one who can catch a football? I know they're not WRs but they're pro football players! Out of the group we have now none of them can catch a football when it's thrown into their hands.
It's drving me crazy! |
Re: Hear Me Out ... ( Roman Harper )
The Coaches like him enough to keep him around. It is called loyalty and knowledge. Some of you should try to learn about those qualities in a man.

Actually making the pick when it hits your hands is HUGE! Coming to a play late...and "ready" for the ball when it comes loose is HUGE! I've seen guys giving up on a fair catcher and not ready for the muff. Seemingly little things, but HUGE. We need 1 or 2 Johnny-on-the-spots. One or two guys with the ability to slow things down, and play in the moment, Harper included, can once again put us over the top. Linebacker is a bit tooooooo much to ask. |
