Ouch....
John Clayton ✔ @ClaytonESPN
Here's the Saints tough conversion to 3-4. They have Wlll Smith, C. Chamberlain, K Coleman and V. Butler out for the season. Cap cost $11.6M |
Re: Ouch....
He is only partially right; Butler may make it back after the bye week.
|
Re: Ouch....
From all I have read, I am not getting my hopes up on Butler's return. Then what if Vilma cannot return...the $11.6 goes even higher.
|
Re: Ouch....
We won't miss Will Smith.
|
Re: Ouch....
Chamberlain was a great sign!
|
Re: Ouch....
We should have cut our losses with smith and Vilma.... It pains me to say it but it is showing true at least at this moment

Re: Ouch....
With the amount of players getting ACL injuries they need to do something about both looking into the sudden increase of the injury,i have my thoughts why. Also if teams should receive cap relief when players miss the season with injuries.
|
Re: Ouch....
my theory on the ACL injuries is what I have targeted Jim and John Harbaugh of doing the last 2-3 years as a coach.
That is teaching players techniques that intentionally injure players, its not necessarily limited to only targeting knees which lead to it that is being taught by these coaches though. But we saw a glimpse of it in the 49ers/Vikings game. If you have looked over the past years with Harbaughs coaching (thus far in the NFL), theirs this tendency that players are taking out key players of the opposing side quite often. This is why I think the ACL injury has been so persistent lately, its not just harbaughs coaching it either, but they are prime examples in my book. |
Re: Ouch....
John Clayton is the NFL's answer to The Cooler...
...the Seventh Fleet could pull into port after being at sea for six months and this man's image on a port entry billboard could cause mass impotence... ...it's fitting his check comes from ESPN... |

HGH
Bigger, faster, stronger is good if the joints can hold up to it. They cannot. |

I want some HGH. It's not even illegal in my profession.
I bet it's easier to get HGH in the NFL than on the street! |

I mean you will always have people say that teams will then fake injuries to get cap relief or some other such conspiracy but it seems fair to offer some sort of proportion back if only a gesture. Say for example, an NFL approved doctor with no team ties has to perform the diagnosis and if someone is truly out for a season then you get a percentage of their cap hit back. You could even only make that 20-30% which is then not a reason for sending down a massive player on purpose. Hmmmm. Food for thought. |

I could use some. |

That's what I'm talking about, ACL injuries are out of control throughout the entire league, they need to remedy that ... don't know about the cap relief angle though, if the teams don't lose any value associated with that injury, they'll never move to investigate/eliminate the source of the injuries. Just do a search for "grow young with HGH" and get over 2million results, it's everywhere. I see advertisements in VFW magazine for some place in New York selling the stuff, so yeah, it's not illegal? Not evaluated by the FDA either, but what does that mean anymore? |

How about having more players on the roster with the same cap? This will have the effect of forcing down wages, reducing the effect of any one player having a catastrophic impact on the financials, as well as having more players to rotate in, reducing fatigue, which is the biggest contributor to injuries (aside from questionable hits). |
Re: Ouch....
@xan - Proposition also sounds sensible to me.
I wonder if it is just easier, and possibly fairer, for the NFL to dodge even talking about this bullet by just leaving it as it is. At the end of the day, it is bad luck that could affect any player on any franchise at any time (within reason) so there is no edge to any franchise. I still like the idea of being given something to work with though! |
Re: Ouch....
I wonder if Clayton can play LB'er? I'm sorry I just had to go there.
