The question Drew Brees is sick of answering
Saints quarterback Drew Brees has fielded hundreds of questions this preseason, but one in particular is getting asked again and again - and getting under his skin.
"What's it like to have Sean Payton back?" "He has been asked that question so many times, and I have been asked that question so many times," Brees said wearily in the team's final media availability before Thursday's game against the Miami Dolphins. "I think for us, it's really in the past." Brees also debunks the theory that last year's Bounty suspensions are fueling the fire to succeed this season. "We are on to the next season," Brees said. "We are always motivated. We are always inspired to go out. Our mindset is forget what you did the year before whether it was good or bad. You have to prove it again this year. There is always another challenge. We feel that no time has passed, and we are right back in line with Sean Payton's program. It's what we do, so it's not like I walk out of here at practice and see him and be like, 'Whoa, it's Sean Payton. He's back.'" The "Payton Returns" storyline may have run its course within the walls of Saints camp in Metairie, but it will no doubt be a headline again next week when the Saints kick start the regular season with a matchup at home versus the Atlanta Falcons, their division rival. Are you mad about Bountygate? Is roger Goodell a major douche bag? |
Re: The question Drew Brees is sick of answering
How much money do you have in your pocket right now?
Can I borrow some? Are your kids going to play football? Will you sign this? How much do you bench? What did you eat for breakfast? Do you really use Nyquil? Which is better, San Diego, or New Orleans? Do you know Archie Manning? Are you related to John Boy? Can I have a helmet decal? How much money do you have in your couch cushions? Will you donate to my charity? |

Re: The question Drew Brees is sick of answering
What should we do for the old players who had to work day jobs in the offseason, and are now in wheelchairs & cant pay their bills? You know, the guys who built the league where you can come in now and make a billion dollars?

I'm rooting for him. I love my family, but I disagree with things they do. I disagree with his take on past players, and also I wasnt happy with his negotiation process--- in fact, I think it hurt the team, and his own image. But Im still a fan. |

Regarding Brees, I'm not a fan of a guy getting paid so much that it hurts his team. What's the purpose? To say that you were the highest paid player in the NFL at one time? If that's the case, good job. Now please spread the wealth so that the defense can help the team get to the Superbowl. His comments on past players was pretty spot on in my book. Although each player is/was different it seems like a lot of these guys came out of the woodwork with a bat in hand trying to break the big 'ol NFL pinata and scoop up all the candy when it finally broke. Regarding Danno, I like the man. A lot. I'm never trying to make enemies here. Though I worry that what I say sometimes angers people, I try my best to be considered a pal. Smileys are like underoos, they serve a purpose but not around co-workers. I doubt being a smart-ass to my boss then sticking my tongue out at him would go over well. :) |
