Now some of the salary cap commitments will dictate players on the roster that otherwise wouldn't make the team...

See two positions that are still of concern...

Outside Linebacker

The now projected Week 1 tandem of Galette and Wilson have yet to play together...

The Parys Haralson was a good trade in a position we should never have been...

But we still don't have that proven pass rushing linebacker and Martez Wilson would be better suited as a Will/Inside Linebacker (i.e. Vaughn Johnson type)

Rufus, whom I like as well as his story, but why draft a 43 DE when moving to a 34 front?!?

There are two players that could add depth to what could be a good rotation...

Kamerion Wimbley who signed with Tennessee from Oakland and was miscast as a DE when he is clearly an Outside Linebacker; the Titans are desperate for Wide Receivers and we've got plenty of that...

Dontay Moch is another square peg in a round hole situation; scouted as a (Correction) 34 OLB, the Bengals have tried to make a 43 OLB which are very different traits; he could easily rejuvenate his career in New Orleans...

Another concern has to be with the Offensive Tackle positions...

Daily Media Observers have posted the unlikelihood of Marcel Jones making the team; that leaves Brown/Armstead opposite Strief/Harris...

Strief seems healthy and able and Harris looks that he can develop into a quality Tackle...

On the other side, Armstead is struggling adjusting to the speed of the game and just needs to put it together; but having the well documented health history of Brown at Left Tackle, well, I'm just a simple fan and like Coach, it can keep you up at night...

Think the Saints may have to consider when setting their 53 man roster, they may have to have some wiggle room to acquire some depth for the OT position...

Unfortunately, several teams seem to have lost their Tackles for the season already, so losing Brown a couple of weeks into the season after all other options may have been scooped up could prove costly...
Offense alone makes us more talented every year. I still fail to see all the talent on defense everyone is talking about. Jordan and Hicks will be very good players in this league. I see everyone else as average with a few like Lofton and Lewis slightly above average. LB corps is scary thin and a defensive backs leave a little to be desired. I have high hopes for Vaccaro, but I havent seen anything from him in real game time yet. Galette and Wilson are good as a tandem but neither an every down player. We lose one or the other and we are going to have problems.

Dude, while I don't disagree with the point of your post regarding the talent drop off on defense - don't sell these guys short...

Cam Jordan is moving back to a more familiar alignment which he excelled...

Akiem Hicks looks to be a great complement on the other side and should be cap friendly (not necessarily a discount) for years to come...

And Glenn Foster looks to be another surprise found in the UDFA pool of players...

Big John Jenkins is gonna learn from an already respected, established nose tackle in Brodrick Bunkley...

By all reports, we have an excellent acquisition in Keenan Lewis and Jabari Greer who's been a great corner for us (when healthy) is now leading, teaching three other talented backs in Patrick Robinson, Corey White and Rod Sweeting whom just have to learn to put it together...

Though I'm still miffed for not drafting Alec Ogletree who offered more value, by what we've seen Kenny Vaccaro should more than prove his value as a first round pick which we haven't had the best success in these past years...

The pessimism, concern comes from the void at outside linebacker and the misguided plan for that conversion to be lead Will Smith which even amateur fans could see was simply not going to work...

There are chinks in the armour, no doubt, but the groundwork has been laid to turn this thing around in so far as talent is concerned...
lee909 and K Major like this.

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

I can agree with that.
