How come there was no press conference saying he is stepping down, and an interim coach (NOT VENTURI!!) will run the ship until the off season?

Now, I think we keep our 2nd round pick for next year to give the new coach more picks to build his team.

I think AB's comments were more about getting a new coach than him wanting to leave NO.

You got to say one thing though, that loss was a team effort. It wasn' a one man show. So kudos to the guys for all losing the game together.... as a team.

I think AB, Deuce, Horn, Stallworth et al., are not the problem. Sure they made mistakes, sure they played like crap (Deuce didn't play, i know), but first and foremost WE'RE GETTING OUT COACHED left and right.

Speaking of coaching changes,we need a Tom Coughlin type guy.Everyone said all through preseason he was too tough on his players,but look at the results.He fines guys for not being early to practice.every stupid mistake they make comes out of their pocket.The players tried to fight ol Tom,but now it looks like they\'re buying in and having success doing so.I think Randy Mueller would have pushed for a new staff before now.In 2000 Zook and Bunting made that team what it was.the D overachieved and sparked the offense.we had like 5 pro bowlers that year.

The problem is Benson is cheap, and I dont think he will get rid of the staff until the contracts are up. Benson is just as much a problem as anybody on this staff or team. He doesnt mind losing as long as he makes money. This staff will be here unless you see a 4 or 5 win season this season. Just my opinion.

I agree with you on that.I\'ve always said Benson was business first win later.I used to work at one of his auto dealerships about 13 years ago.He runs the saints like he ran his car lots.

What does he shine up old cars that dont run make them pretty on the outside so when you buy them they get off the lot, make it the the freeway and breakdown on the side of the road. Seems like thats the way the saints are too. Guess he does run them the same

Honestly, why would he? He has i believe 2 years left on his deal. He understands that he has a job until the end of his deal. Benson is ok with being mediocre. The Kings of Mediocracy. Haz is going nowhere any time soon. Not good news for Saints fans.

The biggest problem IS Benson, but not because he\'s cheap...most owners are cheap. It is because when he fired Randy Mueller he did not replace him.

A strong GM would have forced Haslet to change at least D coordinators and maybe even Offense. Mueller might have even convinced Benson of the need to fire Haslet by now. Instead we\'re stuck with a bean counter with the title of GM, but none of the real power and a HC who is so hardheaded he can\'t make changes to his staff even when it is incredibly obvious to the world that that is where the problem lies.

As far as Haslet resigning...that is the last thing I want. Don\'t give up what little respect I have left for you by quitting midseason cuz your team sux. Be a man and suffer through this like the rest if us.

I don\'t know... I don\'t see Benson being cheap. Although I do see some very strong points that someone should have called in a D coach this past off-season and I shouted that all year and then some. The problem I have seen is that one... Benson is trying to be loyal to Venturi for bailing him out of the Mora situation. Venturi so needs to go and why that hasn\'t happend still boggles the mind.

It\'s not that Benson is cheap/expensive (His ticket prices are below the league average). It\'s not even the fact that he\'s \"business and profits first, winning later.

Simply put, he is incompetent. He\'s never known how to successfuly install personnel who care about winning and Super Bowls.

Randy Mueller was the closest thing we\'ve ever had to that winning mentality. But Benson\'s cluelessness and stupidity stepped in once again. Firing a solid GM because you don\'t like him ABSOLUTELY RETARDED.

Look, you can complain all you want about how stupid our coaching staff and front office are, but there\'s an even bigger idiot paying their salaries...
