If this is another attempt for the Saints to keep Brooks around longer while we have a young QB ready to take over because of his lack of leadership I am highly upset... J.T. was looking solid in preseason. I know he was young and had his moments, but with another year under his belt he would have been a solid #2 and still only 25. Bouman is 32 and not getting any younger... Someone want to tell me what the hell we were thinking here? Now we have upgraded a secondary that did need it, but giving up a young promising QB... I dont like this trade at all...

We all knew if we going to get MM we were going to have to give up a solid player. I liked JT too. I am surprised we got a conditional 2nd back from the packers. That sounds strange.
It might be conditional on the basis if he doesn\'t sign we get their 2nd. |

:casstet: Adding McKenzie may help, but until we get a new set of coordinators things will not be any different. |

I miss read that we got a second rounder back which is good for a young unproven QB.
I know I said JT was solid in preseason which isnt 100% true. He is still a backup and if you looked at his numbers he played ok. Same as he did last year when he had the best QB rating in preseason. With more tyme I think he would have developed into a solid QB. I just think that Brooks has been given way to many chances and we have let go of some solid QBs to keep him around. Jake Delhomme, Marc Bulger, and now JT... It might be another loss for us. MM will help the secondary yes, but at the same tyme what kinda difference will it make? Can he stop the run? Can he score us some points on Offense? Like every keeps saying its not the players its the play calling... Coordinators need to go! |

It looks like Green Bay has their QB of the future. I really like JT and hope he does well for the Pack. I really hate seeing the Saints trading this kid...
Hopefully, MM will help the secondary at some point. I am not sold on him, but he should help. I agree that the bigger issue is the coaching staff... |
MIKE McKENZIE TRADED FOR JT
Can MM play Middle Linebacker or DTackle????
Once again we got hosed |
MIKE McKENZIE TRADED FOR JT
Watching JT in the European league this past season I kept thinking he looked/played a lot like a young Brett Favre. I never thought he might be his future replacement, though.

I like the trade. I dont care if its Haslett or another coaching staff nobody will sit Brooks for O Sullivan. We got needed secondary help, and what does it cost? I trade a backup for a needed starter everyday of the week. As far as O Sullivan being Farve\'s future replacement, hes done nothing on the field to prove hes good enough to play in this league. They said Couch was his future replacement too.

This move stinks ...... J.T. had a much better showing then Bouman in all phases and Green Bay saw this , now if Brooks goes down or has a couple of bad games the season is totally over . Bouman is a bust . |

This looks like a meaningful move on the CB position. I\'m not happy about the admission as it\'s too little too late. More than anything, it has the whiff of desperation about it. We\'re going to renegotiate MM\'s contract and pay him too much money to pacify him. Haslett and Co are going to cross their fingers and hope to end the season at .500 and save their jobs. Makes no sense.
Even with MM, we can\'t stop the run. We\'ve just guaranteed that JT will be headed to the pro-bowl before long. :kerry: |
MIKE McKENZIE TRADED FOR JT
Maybe J.T. made Brooks a little nervous .
Fan favorite quarterback in New Orleans and the offense was struggling , rather then hear the fans calling for J.T. Hasbeen put him on a bus to Green Bay for a cancerous player he can blame the season on ..... ;) |
MIKE McKENZIE TRADED FOR JT
How can this be \"saving\" AB? I don\'t care how much you liked JT, he wasn\'t a threat to the position. But this does open up the ability to draft someone next year that could \"challenge for the position\" ;)

MIKE McKENZIE TRADED FOR JT
I\'ll tell ya\'ll right now that this had NOTHING to do with saving Aaron Brooks. On the other hand, it wreaks of Haslett trying to save his own azz.
MM is a good corner with a bad attitude. He will upgrade the secondary - no question. The question is whether that matters at this point in the season. Improving our pass defense is fairly meaningless. Who cares about passing the ball when the Arizona Cardinals and the world\'s oldest RB can put up hundreds of yards rushing and 34 points? Our defense is 31st in the league. Venturi for President, right? All those people who were talking about how it was just injuries last season - how the team just needed time to gel. Let me ask ya\'ll a question - is it better or worse this year? One thing that does stink is the loss of JT. I really liked the guy. Personally I think he was the second best QB on our team. AB isn\'t going anywhere, but whoever the new coach is next year, he would most probably have gone with JT as the #2 (IMO). All I\'ll say is this. I saw JT make serious strides this year in NFLE. I wouldn\'t be surprised to see JT starting in GB in two years or so. That team is famous for building QBs and JT is young, mobile, and seems smart to me. I think he\'s gotta be the heir apparent to Favre right now. That\'s the second solid QB we let slip in two years. That\'s a real shame. Anyone know who our #3 is now? |

PACKERS SHIP MCKENZIE TO SAINTS
The Packers have picked up quarterback J.T. O\'Sullivan and a second-round pick from the Saints in exchange for disgruntled cornerback Mike McKenzie. O\'Sullivan, a sixth-round pick of the Saints in 2002, is a project at the quarterback position. He shined in NFL Europe this year, and he appears to be the latest in-house heir apparent to Brett Favre, who added on Sunday an acute case of \"bumpus on the nogginus\" to a growing list of maladies. Perhaps O\'Sullivan can become a bona fide player. After all, another former sixth-round draft pick of the Saints has become a pretty decent quarterback -- for the Rams. For the Saints, they\'ll have to address immediately McKenzie\'s unhappiness with his current contract. If they don\'t, then they\'ve merely inherited the same problem that the Packers have had since the end of the 2004 season. http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm |

I am curious of what game you people are watching. Once again AB played a good game that didn\'t produce a W & he is being ridicule. The reason(s) they lost that game was poor coaching. The offense was too predictable, the defense couldn\'t stop the run.
What will you expect w/ a formation w/ no back? Pass!! Although the cardinals knew when to expect the pass, Brooks still put up solid #\'s. If anything people should happy this guy is hstill here and not shining w/ another team |

So now that we have Mike McKenzie, does this mean he won\'t play for us unless and until we give him a new contract? :weepy:

Kliff Kingsbury is going to be a serious player for us in the upcoming years. That kid is a true quarterback, and as much as I liked JT, I dont think any of us will miss him much once you get a load of Kingsbury next year (or this one). We stole him from New Englands practice squad as they tried to keep him protected as well as Rohan. I think the trade is a good one for both teams, and McKenzy is just happy to be out of Green Bay, but his agent says that they arent going to squeeze the head office for a new contract until the offseason, and the Saints are willing , only how much will be how well he does the rest of the season. Look for a fired up and solid play from our new corner.
Sadly i see a lot of defensive holes that this doesnt fix. We will still probably scrape out enough wins on talent alone, but this coaching staff has completely lost my support. Defensive schemes that haven\'t worked since pop-warner according to Bryan Cox, and offensive playcalling so predictable, my friend\'s 7 year old was able to guess the play 90% of the time, missing on the reverse-flea-flick-endzone-defensive-touchdown of course which no one guessed. AB deserved to get *****-slapped by CG im sure after reading his post-game comments. |

The addition to McKenzie is a good and like SAINTFAN stated “We got something for JT. We totally blew it regarding Jake Delhomme. Is true. The only thing is Bouman is not the answer is Brooks goes down. Although I would have liked an play-making linebacker, McKenzie will upgrade the secondary and Ambrose to nickel. So the trade was not bad. But it will look bad because of our coaching staff.

Saints to add QB to competition
Former Texas Tech record-setter might sign deal today Tuesday, September 07, 2004 By Brian Allee-Walsh Kliff Kingsbury, who set numerous passing records at Texas Tech, arrived in New Orleans on Monday night and will join the Saints\' practice squad today after signing a contract, his agent said. Kingsbury, a sixth-round pick of the New England Patriots in 2003, missed all of last season with an unspecified arm injury. He went to training camp with the Patriots in July and was released Friday. Green Bay and San Francisco, both teams in need of quarterback help, also showed interest in Kingsbury the past few days. \"This is where Kliff has wanted to be all along,\" said Kingsbury\'s agent, Vann McElroy. \"We thought he was coming to New Orleans in the 2003 draft, because they wanted him, but New England traded up above them to get him in the sixth round. \"Kliff\'s excited. I\'m excited. We\'re thrilled he\'s coming there to work with (Saints offensive coordinator) Mike McCarthy. We think this is a good fit.\" Saints officials declined comment until Kingsbury signs a contract. They did announce that six players have been signed to their practice squad. All went to training camp with the team and were released Sunday. They are fullback Nate Schurman, wide receiver Nathan Black (Northwestern State), tackle Ben Archibald, guard Chad Setterstrom, cornerback Fred Booker (LSU) and linebacker Billy Strother. Saints officials are expected today to fill the last opening on the practice squad. Kingsbury, 6 feet 3, 220 pounds, set 39 school, 13 Big 12 Conference and seven NCAA career passing records in 43 games at Texas Tech. He completed 1,231 of 1,883 passes for 12,429 yards with 95 touchdowns and 40 interceptions. He is one of only three quarterbacks in NCAA history to compile at least 10,000 passing yards, 10,000 yards in total offense and complete more than 1,000 passes. Patriots\' officials had hoped to re-sign Kingsbury to their practice squad. He was running fourth on the depth chart, behind two-time Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady, former LSU quarterback Rohan Davey and veteran Jim Miller. Former Saints quarterback Billy Joe Tolliver, who also played at Texas Tech, helped recruit Kingsbury for New Orleans. http://www.nola.com/saints/t-p/index...6543322980.xml [Edited on 5/10/2004 by saintz08] |
