New Orleans
We’re told the Saints are very concerned about the sore knee that is troubling WR Joe Horn, mostly because this is the second straight year Horn has had a problem with the knee. Horn is suffering from a torn bursa sac in his left knee and reportedly has a bone bruise, an injury that Horn admitted limited him last season. At 32 years old, Horn isn’t viewed by the Saints as a player who is in the prime of his career, and they have been working on moving the offense more toward WR Donté Stallworth this season. Horn still is the player opponents focus on the most, and the Saints hope he can continue to be productive while playing through the injury. Still, injuries to Horn, Jerome Pathon (hamstring) and Talman Gardner (ankle), have led to increasing disappointment in rookie Devery Henderson. Henderson, who held out for nine days of training camp, has never caught up to his teammates, and head coach Jim Haslett doesn’t believe Henderson can be trusted at this point. That puts even more pressure on Stallworth, which leaves the Saints with a very shaky picture at wideout. |
