Looks like the Bucs are worried about Sunday
Clown Shoes!
It’s players-only meeting time in Tampa | ProFootballTalk At a time when the team coached by the son of legendary Buccaneers defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin may or may not have had a players-only meeting, Monte Kiffin’s former team definitely did. Per multiple league sources, the Buccaneers conducted a players-only meeting in the wake of Sunday’s defeat-from-the-jaws-of-victory performance at MetLife Stadium against the Jets. The full agenda isn’t known. One league source tells PFT that the discussion included the raising of concerns regarding the legitimacy of the vote that resulted in quarterback Josh Freeman losing the captain’s “C” from his jersey. The Buccaneers had no comment. But they surely would deny any foul play in connection with the counting of the votes. Nevertheless, the concern exists — and it’s the kind of thing that could fester like MRSA for a team that faces a visit from the Saints, a trip to New England, and a home game against the better-than-advertised Cardinals before an early bye week. |
Re: Looks like the Bucs are worried about Sunday
We refer to this one in the UK as 'A potential Banana Skin'. Let's not be too hasty to make ourselves 2-0 just yet. Sometimes these sorts of rallies can get a team back together again.
I will more than happily take an 'I told you so' from all of you when we drop 50 points on them :) It's easy to be humble in that situation haha |
Re: Looks like the Bucs are worried about Sunday
What a mess.
It would be just like Schiano to rig the vote so that Freeman wasn't named captain even though the players voted it that way. A couple guys hear Freeman's not the captain, even though they voted for him, people start talking, next thing you know they're going full-blown mutiny on the guy. I mean, think about it, are NFL players really NOT going to vote for the team's established starting QB as a captain? I'ma start getting my popcorn ready. |
Re: Looks like the Bucs are worried about Sunday
Players only meeting already? After one game...that's 7th grade stuff.

Re: Looks like the Bucs are worried about Sunday
It would be fairly easy for them to compare notes among themselves by talking in the locker room, and figure out if something was amiss about the votes. It's 53 guys, so you don't even have to talk to everybody to get a feel for how it's shaking down, as far as the votes go.
I bet the first thing on their agenda is to do a secret ballot "re-vote" on paper, and see if Freeman loses the "C" again. This could get interesting. If the do the vote over among themselves and he still loses the "C," then they just wasted a bunch of time that they could have been preparing together for Sunday. |
Re: Looks like the Bucs are worried about Sunday
Freeman doesn't deserve the C if you ask me... His play is up n down and now his morale is going to be crushed he didn't get the C and Bucs are not going to resign him.... Bucs may get 6 r 7 wins.... Hopefully no one is against us... We need a statement game aka "Blowout" to let everyone know The Saints r back n town !

Re: Looks like the Bucs are worried about Sunday
What a freaking disaster the Bucs are! To think that the experts said improving their secondary would make them playoff contenders. The players have never been on board with their crappy college coach treating them like kids despite having never really done anything to earn their respect.

Re: Looks like the Bucs are worried about Sunday

Re: Looks like the Bucs are worried about Sunday
The Saints are already in their heads.

Re: Looks like the Bucs are worried about Sunday
We need to worry and take this game seriously...
...going into a desperate division rival's home to win a game? And we've got some pretty significant injuries... These are the games that haunt Saints fans' souls... |
Re: Looks like the Bucs are worried about Sunday
The man has lost his team. You dont ask professional players to play full ball on a kneel play.
Schiano denies 'story' that he changed vote to keep Freeman from being captain | Tampa Bay Times Clarification on the "players only" meeting. We’re now hearing the meeting actually happened beforeWeek One, which suggests an even deeper level of problems and/or dysfunction. The full agenda isn’t known. One league source tells PFT that the discussion included the raising of concerns regarding the legitimacy of the vote that resulted in quarterback Josh Freeman losing the captain’s “C” from his jersey. Preseason too early for players only meetings? Not for one team |

Re: Looks like the Bucs are worried about Sunday
theres something going on out east, i predicted as much as the world that tampa go into new york and give a legitimate assre kickin to the jets and throw there name in the hat for an nfc south championship. well what happened, the ex-captain of the team sat on the bench pouting all game because it wasn't about him. they played against each other like a team that is in disarray. still have to go down there and kick some butt.

Just remember the Japanese had us outnumbered, outgunned, and outdone; moral was at their peak...
...and they lost their entire Air/Naval Fleet... ...in the Pacific, just off a little island called Midway... ...Always take the opponent seriously, treat 'em with respect... |
