Re: Goldson wins appeal, but is hit with $100K fine
What's the point of even trying to use loss of game time as a punishment? Seems like the players win every appeal, unless you're a Saint... |
Re: Goldson wins appeal, but is hit with $100K fine
A one-game suspension would have cost Goldson in the neighborhood of $265,000.
So he saves $165K by appealing the suspension (not counting legal and agent fees involved). The NFL is nothing short of a total JOKE. |
Re: Goldson wins appeal, but is hit with $100K fine
One Big JOKE ! What about the hit on Jimmy Graham, by Brooks.

Re: Goldson wins appeal, but is hit with $100K fine
So $100,000 from $41.5 million is like about 2 cents for the rest of us. Big whooping deal. Bet that'll teach him not to hit with his head.

Re: Goldson wins appeal, but is hit with $100K fine
He was fined $30k last week for a hit to Cumberland... Fines and suspensions that are over turned DO NOT WORK

Dashon Goldson not only 1 that will pay for his helmet-2-helmet fines. Under #nfl rules, @TBBuccaneers fined $50k as franchise |
Re: Goldson wins appeal, but is hit with $100K fine

Re: Goldson wins appeal, but is hit with $100K fine
Good. Let him play. Him, Revis, and Freeman will be demanding a trade soon anyway.

Re: Goldson wins appeal, but is hit with $100K fine
i am not saying he is out of football but fines and suspension should be set up already.
hell we lost two draft picks and not one of the hits the nfl and the media used were near as bad. i also understand the new rules make a db life a living hell back there. Simplest way around all of this is let them play ball and except that is the risk they decided to take when they picked the profession. play ball and stop wrecking the game. you go over the middle expect to be hit and blowing snot bubbles on the turf for a few minutes. |

$30,000 then $100,000, hopefully a New England player doesn't suffer from what would actually merit a suspension in the eyes of Goodell. |

Why can't we win an appeal?
|
Re: Goldson wins appeal, but is hit with $100K fine
Because double standards. If its the Saints, suspend, take away draft picks, then fine them. Any other team, oh just shake your finger at them and tell them to just not do that anymore.

Re: Goldson wins appeal, but is hit with $100K fine
What y'all need to step back and realize is that the overturning of the suspension hits Tampa Bay harder. If Goldson's suspension would have been upheld the team would have retained the $562,500 salary that Goldson would have lost. That money stays in the team's pocket. This way the team gets hit harder. In addition to the $100,000 fine the league levied on Goldson it added an addition $50,000 fine on the team itself.

Re: Goldson wins appeal, but is hit with $100K fine
Matt Birk Not Goodell lifted the suspension on appeal. Matt Birk is an NFL appeals officer and ex player.
Dashon Goldson Wins Appeal: Matt Birk Overturns Suspension Matt Birk Minnesota Vikings (1998-2008) Ravens (2009-2012) From Minnesota. Same Matt Birk that insinuated the 49ers were behind the SB Black Out Matt Birk Insinuates 49ers Were Behind Super Bowl Blackout – Baltimore Sports Report ^ This is what the NFL hires as an appeals officer? WTF? I am sure the Saints Vikings rivalry had nothing to do with his decision. |
Re: Goldson wins appeal, but is hit with $100K fine
These fines are pathetic. There 1000's would be my 100 bucks (or less)
|
Re: Goldson wins appeal, but is hit with $100K fine
I hope he hits one the precious Pats late this week. Goodell can then answer why Goldson was allowed on the field.
Keep letting the repeat offenders go, Rog. Your credibility is already sky-high |
Re: Goldson wins appeal, but is hit with $100K fine
Right fines are nothing to these guys, game suspensions would be more effective along with the fines.
