Darren Sproles: Dashon Goldson tried to hurt me
 

Saints running back Darren Sproles says Buccaneers safety Dashon Goldson was clearly intending to injure him when he delivered a helmet-to-helmet blow in Sunday’s game.

“He tried to hurt me on the play, but he didn’t,” Sproles said.

Sproles said that when he watched replays of the hit, he could see that Goldson was aiming to drill him in the head. Sproles added that Goldson has a history of delivering “dirty” hits.

Goldson got a 15-yard penalty for the hit on Sproles and was initially suspended for a game, although on appeal his punishment was reduced from a one-game suspension to a $100,000 fine. That’s a hefty fine and it comes on the heels of a $30,000 fine Goldson incurred in Week One, but at some point, if fines and 15-yard penalties aren’t stopping Goldson’s dirty play, a suspension is going to have to be the next step.

I am sure somebody (a reporter) asked Sproles the question. It's not like he went running to the newspaper and begged to talk to them or whatever.

All this means is that the ignorant trolls at PFT get another chance to bring up the bounty junk,. so what, they will believe those lies until the end of time if that's what they want. no amount of facts and reason is going to change that.

To the common person, that speech was ugly. To a lot of NFL players that spoke up after it came out, it's just what happens in a locker room.

The fact that Fujita was 100% cleared should have been enough to make people stand up and question the NFL's entire case from the beginning, but by then the general public already had their scapegoat. So now f I want to watch a Saints game most weeks I have to go to Buffalo Wild Wings and hope I don't get hassled by some egghead who just took Goodell's and ESPN's word for everything without giving the slightest bit of thought into how preposterous it all was once the facts started coming to light.
