NO TOONżżż
I know it's still early in the season and he probably has some opps coming his way, but to not get in on one play so far has me scratching my head because Meachem was picked up late and even he's been given some shots and thats REALLY ANNOYING to me for us to be sitting him on the bench I think he could do some big things for us ....and our O-line looks like poo

Re: NO TOONżżż
I think right now the Saints are still playing the experiment game, basically saying.........we dont know who the best WR's are out there atm. We had Meachem, Moore, Colston, and Stills out there today, and Stills never did get a catch, I am not even sure if Lance Moore got one.

Re: NO TOONżżż
Keep in mind this is pure speculation.
I think they are grooming him for the Colston role. That means he has to know all the routes for all the receiver positions, because we know how Colston lines up all over the place. And maybe it takes a little longer to get all that stuff down. Don't know what Moore's injury was. Who knows, maybe we'll see Toon next week. |
Re: NO TOONżżż
I dunno, more I see Moore, I sometimes wonder if we shouldnt find a better WR for his spot to. But then he comes up with these 2 TD 100 yard games when you start to question it.
I think we have lost a step or 2 at WR position which is why I think the offense has been a little slow this season. Most balls is going to the TE and RB these first 3 games. |
Re: NO TOONżżż
I think Colston is still showing his great level of production. He runs good routes and hauls in passes when he needs to. Moore on the other hand looks to me like he is slowing down a little. Having said that he is still very effective. Stills and Toon could well be our next Moore and Colston so bringing them in slowly seems to make sense.

Re: NO TOONżżż
WR by committee is best played as exploiting match-ups. I expect to see some WRs getting the ball when that match up is bad, and others getting the ball when a different match up is bad. Its utilizing your entire roster.

Re: NO TOONżżż
Teams seem to be playing press coverage with one over the top, a modified tampa-2. Line pressure has been almost exclusively up the middle to disrupt Brees lines of sight. That will always leave a mismatch on the TE and RB.
I don't know if the receivers are a step slow. Brees has been underthrowing his deep balls all last season and this one. |
Re: NO TOONżżż
I'll take Meachem on a dead run slant, post or back flag any day. Nick Toon will get his, no doubt. But like all our receivers, they have to make the best of what they are offered.
Jimmy had a GREAT day, but honestly it would be greater if he learned to extend his arms to catch a sideline pass. We simply could not be in a better position than we are in with respect to talent on offense. Alaska |
Re: NO TOONżżż
Inside seam back shoulder fade... Good luck defending it.

Re: NO TOONżżż
Graham just like everyone else on our roster still has room for growth. Long as Toon is OK then I'm OK.

Re: NO TOONżżż
**** I don't care if we have Pippy Frippen Longstocking at WR as long as we win.

Re: NO TOONżżż
I'd like to see Toon get more snaps to enhance his development...

Re: NO TOONżżż
Somebody play me a Nick Toon this weekend

Re: NO TOONżżż
It's the Sean Payton shell game. He beats teams on BIG PLAYS every week. Opponents think guys like Toon or Moore or Pierre Thomas (or any of the many weapons at his disposal) are down and out or hurt etc. Not only that, Sean pumps out misinformation that teams listen to every week. It's impossible to interpret what is actually going on.
Then, suddenly, out of nowhere, when our opponents are game-planned for Graham and Colston, Meachum is suddenly on the roster again and blasting down field for a TD. He used to do this constantly with Devery. I believe he almost uses Colston as a decoy mostly. When teams start keying in on Moore and Graham, suddenly Colston is the prime target.... TOUCHDOWN. Suddenly runningbacks appear out of nowhere... TOUCHDOWN. We're running up the middle too much..... OOPS we just threw a BOMB to the rookie from Blah Blah State... 45 yard gain! Sean Payton's shell game is a non-stop bag of tricks, and there ain't a damn thing in the world opponents can do about it except try to catch us on an off day. It's hard for any one player on Sean Payton's offense to rack up league monster stats because the job is spread around. The ONLY player who will always rack up stats on a Sean Payton offense is the QB. Most of this stuff is just smoke and mirrors, some of them real injuries... who knows really. All I know is players just pop up out of nowhere suddenly racking up yards, suddenly scoring touchdowns, some of them string a few games along, but mostly are just being shuttled in and out of an arsenal of weapons at Peyton's disposal. |
Re: NO TOONżżż
I trust whatever the staff is doing.

Re: NO TOONżżż
Don't know about Toon but Stills is a long ways off from being in the same class as Colston, Moore or Graham. He seems to have the tools but he's as raw as they come.
|
Re: NO TOONżżż
My man Lance is always in the right spot and will catch the ball when thrown to him. He's out for a few weeks with a non specified wrist injury. We are a little thin at experience in the WR's but Brees will find a way to get them the ball.

I too wish they would put Toon in. Tall receiver like that should be good against the normally smaller DBs.

Re: NO TOONżżż
Nick Toon... isn't preseason over?
