MIA, CHI, NE - The real gauntlet??
Just read an article on ESPN. Our next three opponents are undefeated - Miami, Chicago and New England.
So what concerns you more? Playing those three back to back to back now OR playing San Fran, Seattle, Atlanta on short time later in the season? |
Re: MIA, CHI, NE - The real gauntlet??
San Fran, Seattle, Atlanta

Re: MIA, CHI, NE - The real gauntlet??
Latter in the season.. When we see whoseplayoff bound aand whose not. Win or lose games bring the best and worst out of teams.

Re: MIA, CHI, NE - The real gauntlet??
I honestly believe we're running away in this division. We should win two of the next three. We have the defense to slow down Brady as it took pats a q and a half to even get going. The bears honestly have not beaten anyone and well if there is one team who knows how to win those games in the trenches, its us. I think we can definitely get one of those. Miami is a interesting matchup. And its been one I have been concerned about all offseason. Whoever wins Sunday night, the other conference wins Monday night. Last week both NE and Mia won in their NFC South matchups. I think a split happens here.
By the time we get to SF, Atl, and Sea we could 8-1 or 6-2 and do not think we lose to both Dallas and SF so before Atlanta we could be 9-1, 8-2, or 7-3. I feel Atlanta is gonna lose one of their home games coming up, and will lose at Arizona and at either Carolina, TB, or both. We will have the upper hand this time. Last year we went 0-3 in that stretch, this is a different year based on what we have seen so far with Atl and SF. |
Re: MIA, CHI, NE - The real gauntlet??
I can't believe I didn't see you post this before writing my diatribe in another thread :) I'm an idiot haha.
Honestly right now, MIA-CHI-NEW is by far the greater concern. |
Re: MIA, CHI, NE - The real gauntlet??
Only 1 is NFC (CHI). San Fran, Seattle, and ATL are all NFC so they are more important. All that matters right now is preparing for Miami though. The 49ers are coming apart...Seattle will be a HUGE test.
|
Re: MIA, CHI, NE - The real gauntlet??
Seahawks, Falcons and 49ers are more important games. Spot on. I just think right now they are less daunting.
Seahawks is going to be a real test. Don't rule out that being an important tie-break decision maker for playoff seeding. |
Re: MIA, CHI, NE - The real gauntlet??
Now if we win both games the bears and dolphins and analyst are gonna say we beat them without wake and melton on the field. Hell you can throw the pats in with that with their wr issues. The only game I'm truly nervous about is that seattle game.

Re: MIA, CHI, NE - The real gauntlet??
I don't like Atlanta on the road with a short week. Thursday night road teams have a .362 winning percentage (2006-2012). That's much lower than the standard road percentage of .432. Couple that with the fact that they play the 9ers, a very physical team, just four days before, and I think it's a very distinct disadvantage.
I'm very surprised that the Saints have had that exact scenario two years in a row. |

Atlanta is the most important for us to win and they are always tough at home. The travel to SF and Seattle is a disadvantage. Seattle is for real. They are a very tough team. SF looks to be in a slump but can still be dangerous and have always played us tough since the days when they were in our division. Its still early in the season and Mia, New England and Chicago seem to have some problems. IMO these next three games will be tough but not as tough as the other 3. |
Re: MIA, CHI, NE - The real gauntlet??
I'm really hoping the team is just focused on MIA right now.
As far as this thread goes, the SF, SEA, and ATL will all be bloodbaths with all the history we have with each of them. I'd be content to get swept these next 3 as long as we sweep THOSE 3 games. Not happy losing 3 straight at any point (obviously), but the SF-SEA-ATL starts Week 11. I'd take a set-back NOW and get it really rolling NOV-DEC on into FEB14. That's my opinion: tank 3 now but rockin' it later...if we weren't 3-0 now, my outlook would be completely different. |

Miami.
The buzz down here is incredible. Second coming of the 72 Dolphins. Just w/o the awesome defense or the all world RBs. (Hah!) Seriously though I can't look that far ahead. Miami is the only team I can see. |
Re: MIA, CHI, NE - The real gauntlet??
It's all about the playoffs, so SF-ATL-SEA (all NFC teams) is still of a little greater concern looking at the big picture.
|
Re: MIA, CHI, NE - The real gauntlet??
Considering you have to beat the best to be the best... I don't see a problem.
Bring'em on. :bartinator: |

Re: MIA, CHI, NE - The real gauntlet??
Although they weren't included, I'd say DAL,SF,ATL,SEA and CAR is our toughest stretch. DAL and CAR have really good defensive lines so if nothing else they will present a challenge with their physical line play.

Here's the thing.............which game is more important? Because honestly there is no shame in losing to a SF team that isnt even gonna win their division and if they make the playoffs we get the chance to beat them in a more important game. However, if we were to play them they would have knocked off Seattle. I actually am not gonna jump to conclusions with SF, as they put up a tank job the last time they were to play a Thursday night game. Harbaugh is a mental coach and plays the mental game well. I don't believe SF played all their hand in that game but the way they lost showed their defense has issues. KC did the same thing the week before, laying low on offense while playing hard on defense. It worked. If we play conservative against SF or only play one side of the ball at top form then we could play well with the other side against Atlanta. I know trends are meant to be broken. But since the early 90s, there hasnt been back to back series splits with us and Atlanta. And Atlanta is gonna end up 4-6 or worse when we play them again. Meaning we are in position to give them 7 losses like they did us last year. |
Re: MIA, CHI, NE - The real gauntlet??
CAROLINA always gives us fits. now with the beef they got in draft and the way the OL is playing i am keeping an eye on them
|
Re: MIA, CHI, NE - The real gauntlet??
One game at a time. Miami!!! And the other NFC teams wins would be important.

Re: MIA, CHI, NE - The real gauntlet??
Are we really worried about playing in Chicago? I understand the history but I am not sure most people realize that the last time we played in Chicago was 2008... Lots have changed since then.
The issue with playing in Chicago has always been the weather.. mostly the temp. Playing them next weekend means we will have to find a way to play at 65 degrees. LOL |
Re: MIA, CHI, NE - The real gauntlet??
The MOST important game is always the next one. Remember, ONE GAME AT A TIME.
