Top Three: Ways To Defeat The Saints

Doing the three things listed will defeat 99% of the teams in the NFL.

Monday Night the Miami Dolphins will meet the remaining 1%!!

With the Miami Dolphins starting off the season 3-0 for the first time in over a decade, national attention has greatly increased, and people are continuing to be less surprised with how this team has performed. Through the first three games, the Dolphins have been playing great team football, while turning many doubters into believers. Despite the success of this Miami team, not too many people have them favored in their next game – next Monday at New Orleans. Even though this should come to the surprise of little, mainly due to the fact that the Saints play some of their best ball at home; especially on a Monday Night.

Even with the Saints being so dominate at home, you shouldn’t count out the Dolphins just yet. Miami is a team that it is made up of a bunch of no names, especially their defense. Outside of Cameron Wake, not too many people know who makes up this defense. With all the buzz currently being put on the progression of second year quarterback, Ryan Tannehill, this defense is coming into this game with the chance to truly make a name for themselves.

Although almost all of the buzz is centered on Tannehill, he and this offense can also make an even bigger name for themselves. Imagine how much more hype would be created about Tannehill if he can go into New Orleans on a Monday night and have yet another impressive performance.

Despite the fact that they have yet to show it this year, the Saints are a beatable team. However, in order for Miami to come out victorious in what is sure to be a crazy environment they have to focus on a few things. Below, I am going to list some of the ways in which the Dolphins can defeat the Saints.

Number One: Force Turnovers

Out of the nine losses suffered by New Orleans last season, Drew Brees has had two or more interceptions in five of them. It’s obvious that Drew Brees is a great quarterback; however, if the Dolphins front seven can find a way to get to Drew Brees, they can greatly increase their chances to win. If the pressure is present, Drew Brees would obviously be more susceptible to throw an interception. Throughout their first three games, the Dolphins have had five interceptions, so you know the secondary can actually catch the ball this year.

Number Two: Run the Ball

I know that the Dolphins haven’t exactly been able to run the ball efficiently. The inability to control the line of scrimmage has really been the Achilles heel for this Dolphins team. Last season, the Saints gave up over 150 yards rushing on six different occasions, winning just one game. Much like last season, the Saints running game isn’t very good. It is imperative that the Dolphins can effectively run the ball on Monday night. Not only can it get things going for the rest of the year, but also take some of the pressure off of Ryan Tannehill.

Number Three: Get Ahead Early On

It is already hard enough for teams to win games tin which they were down early on. Imagine how hard it would be to hear someone say something to you while a racecar zooms by you. Multiply that by 10 and you probably won’t even come close to how loud it will be at the Super Dome on a Monday night if New Orleans is up and the possibility of going 4-0. It is important for the Dolphins offense to come out firing on all cylinders on Monday. Putting themselves in a deficit is certainly not a positive thing to do, especially against the Saints passing offense.

Gurden said that monday night if Oakland wanted a chance to beat Denver thats what they needed to do. I guess they forgot when we played them in 09 they forced turnovers, they ran the ball good, and they had a early lead and we still won on their turf none the less.

Isnt that the top 3 ways to beat any team. Kinda ****ty reporting in that regard.

This team is a 3-0 team, just like we are. This is going to be a tough win.

I watched the ATL/MIA game today, the Falcons sacked Tannehill five times... I see our D-Line feasting.

We contain the run and we win, simple as that...

I think it'll be a good game for a bit on MNF. But their defense won't stop our offense consistently for the entire game, and our D-line will make life hard for Tannehill and their offense coupled with the Dome crowd.

We lose if Brees throws 2 picks and our Special Teams gets exposed for how bad it really is.

Depends on which offense shows up. The offense from the second half of the Cards game or the offense in the 2 1/2 games before that.

Naw, man...the guy that wrote it is a freshman in college. Better man than me, considering I was mostly upside down doing keg stands my freshman year and certainly not writing anything.

True statement...offense from the 2nd half of Cards game barely overcomes 2 picks and Special Teams jackassery. Offense from first 2.5 games does not overcome these.

I watched that whole game and I didn't see anything special. Their receivers dropped about a dozen balls with nobody around and often looked lost. If they can't communicate on their own turf I don't see how they are going to have any success in the SD on MNF with a more aggressive pumped up defense in their face. The only time they got it together was for the last drive and even that was sloppy.

Looked like falcons lost that game more than they won it, is what I took away from it.

I can't knock them for beating the Falcons, but we are not the Falcons!!

I didn't catch the ATL game, but all indications say the Clowns beat themselves. I did watch Miami's Indy @ Indy game, though. Their defense ain't all that bad, and they are young. You can't overlook a team that is young and going in the right direction. Of course, Wallace's badmouthing and whining about the play calling when they win doesn't help that team much. Blessed be thou, Colston.

LOL...I noticed that too! Half of that paragraph was based on the Saints of last season.

......in that case,I wonder if he's basing his opinion off the Dolphins of 1972?

Coaches
Roster

1. Pressure up the middle.
2. Blanket the receivers.
3. Hope like the hell the Saints new kickass defense doesn't make things any harder on you than they already are.

That's what hit me right off, basing so much on the stat about the Saints giving up 150yds+ rushing in six games and only winning one of them ... last season ... and we all know the Saints haven't done anything to improve their 'D' since then,. Oh well, the author's just gonna' have to consider it a "learning experience",.

Re: Top Three: Ways To Defeat The Saints

The offense doesn't "need" to show up. Miami's offense is no Atlanta Falcons and has no where near the weapons, and as much as it pains me to make this comparison.. Miami's running game is not as good as the Saints.

If the offense doesn't show up we we still score 2 TDs (because Jimmy Graham is just that frikken good) and Hartley kicks 3 FGs missing 1. Saints 23 Dolphins 17.

I looked at Miami's opponents this season.. The 2013 Dolphins are the equivalent of the 2012 Falcons... Soft schedule.

Only thing I'm worried about is Mike Wallace going deep and Tannehill have the time to throw it to him. Lewis has played with Wallace since high school, sure hope he knows all his moves.

1. Take away Sean Payton for a year

2. Put more work on Brees

3. Become Goodell

Re: Top Three: Ways To Defeat The Saints

The one thing good the dolphins did against the falcons was keep them out of the endzone. Had atlanta cashed in on most of their trips to the redzone it would've been a blowout.

Now considering our redzone woes this year, that is my one concern. If we mess around in the redzone the game will be closer than it needs to be.

This "may" ease your mind.

Saints = Gallett and Jordan
Dolphins = Ryan Tannehil - The most sacked QB in the league this season =14 Only Jacksonville allows more sacks but they spit it between two QBs lol.
Dolphins 0-line = Tied for 10th with the Falcons for hits allowed on a QB. 19

NFL Stats: by Team Category

I may just have to pick up the Saints Defense for this game in fantasy.

Number Two: Run the Ball

but the dolphins are not that good running the ball. Seattle will be a true test after the bye week

Re: Top Three: Ways To Defeat The Saints

Fins played CLE, IND, and ATL...those 3 teams' pass rush are average at best, and they still sacked/hit Tannehill quite a bit in each game. Our D-Line, on the other hand, is getting healthier. Remixing Foster and Walker into the rotation will get to him. Oh, and the Dome noise. He ain't heard nothing like the Dome on MNF.

Still, the Fins are young on both sides of the ball and improving. They'll be dangerous if we let them hang around like the Georgia Clowns did last week. We get up on them early, lights out.
