What does 'Rise up' mean?

Everyone else= Elevate yourself from the position you are in.
Falcons/fans = Choke during football, then b****.

And here I was thinking it was what the Deputy tells the defendants.

That's where the Falcons fans hear it most.

Roughly translated, it's "Falconese" for "Letting your alligator mouth overload your canary (or falcon) arse".

Sort of what I was going to say. How embarrassing is it to have fans that leave before the game is even over. Falcons had a chance to tie the game with PLENTY of clock left and the stadium was EMPTY!

Falcons fans suck, plain and simple. Just glad I'm not one of them!!

I watched last nights game just so I could personally witness the Falcons lose. It wasn't as satisfying as a Saints victory, but it was well worth my time.

Didn't you guys know?

"Rise up" is what you tell Atlanta girls when they're done taking care of your business down there.

was at the game a few years ago in ATL when they had clinched and we needed it for the WC. We were trying to kill the clock and had a big third down. I expected a massive roar to support the D, but instead, fans were pouring out of the stadium.
Very typical. Absolutely shi**y sports town. (no, the Braves are not anywhere close to sold out for the playoffs)

Even the supporting fans know they choke in the 2nd half. Already threads of firing everybody and trading Skid Britches on the other side(Falcons Life)...

Shining your shoes? ... and yeah, I've never heard a stadium so quiet for a Monday Night Game, there was no real difference in the noise level when either team had the ball. Way to represent ATL, ... football just must not be that important in that town, and it shows.

Nah bro, like when she's done cleaning your toilet and the bathroom floor with her toothbrush, we say "RISE UP!"
It's become, like you know, a part of their culture and customs.

Well, that too.
See how flexible of an expression it is for them?

Re: What does 'Rise up' mean?

I don't usually listen to Colin cowherd when he goes on his rants, unless their interesting......today it was, he talked about three teams who we've (fans....) have been waiting to see flourish and has never happened. Cinncinati, Houston, and the Atlanta Falcons. His quote was something like "Tom Brady comes to your house, with you being an elite team and whips you with no named wideouts, a fullback who's name I couldn't find on the roster and a tight end who's name is derived from a player getting a reprieve on a bad golf shot!!!!!

Rise up and come get your big L cause Saints are tired of delivering it to you.

ScottF 09-30-2013 06:23 PM

Re: What does 'Rise up' mean?

Since I am skipping a little school tomorrow, I have some extra time, so...

"Rise Up" is a redundant imperative, with an implied subject, 'you', which can be singular or plural. Since 'rise' implies ascension, the preposition 'up' is superfluous.

Translation: it's a stupid cheer used to motivate stupid people

They should try "breaking bad" before "rising up".

RISE UP ATLANTA !! and get us some coffee.

Re: What does 'Rise up' mean?

It's a desperate call to the team and it's fans in the 4th quarter. The fans are just taking it literally by rising up and leaving.

We've seen this type of team before. Is Matt Ryan the new Aaron Brooks? Tons of stats, one playoff win.
Gonzalez is the new Boo?
Roddy=Horn
Grace Jones =Stallworth. (Julio is much better than Donte but both are fast.)
Mike Smith=Jim Haslett?

I think you both mean "losing", why would they start waiting for the finish now?

Wait till the 4th quarter, then fold like a lawn chair.
