Lions boss calls Bears a “bunch of thugs”
The Lions keep trying to kill irony, and it simply will not die.
First serial penalty getter Ndamukong Suh told his teammates they had to stop getting so many penalties, and now the man in charge of one of the most-arrested franchises off the field and aggressive on it is calling someone else “thugs.” Specifically, Lions vice chairman Bill Ford referred to the Bears that way, during a speech at the team’s annual Courage House dinner last night. “It was really alive, and it was alive when we played those same bunch of thugs on Monday Night a couple [years ago],” Ford said, via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. “When this place gets going it’s electric and we do have wonderful fans. Our fans are amazing and we would love to pay them back and bring home a winner, and I love the way this team is playing right now.” Read More |

That's actually being nice. I would call their fans a worse name.

Re: Lions boss calls Bears a “bunch of thugs”
I just heard this on sportstalk ... wtf?! This is exactly the point where the Lions start getting ahead of themselves and start thinking they've arrived, ... I was gonna' pick 'em to finally beat Green Bay in Lambeau this Sunday, but now I don't know, <headscratch> ... this kind of stupid swagger always derails their forward progress ... wait until you win something, boys!:burn:.

LOL, I watched almost every snap of that game and see a ton of Bears games. They aren't anything even remotely close to thugs.

That's the pot calling the kettle black.

Just to clarify, it wasn't the head coach who said this, it was Lions vice chairman Bill Ford (I'm guessing a decendant of the Automobile 'ford family') who said this. He really could have been talking out his butt. Second, sounds like he was talking out his butt to get audience reaction during a charity dinner. Those things are so boring you literally have to say ANYTHING to get the audience to stay awake. |

Re: Lions boss calls Bears a “bunch of thugs”
I knew Billy years ago and he's an extremely nice and funny guy. I can't imagine anyone taking offense to this obvious humor - unless you're a cretinous troll.

Re: Lions boss calls Bears a “bunch of thugs”
Chitown is a hard town and rough town. they do have some of the nastiest fans in the NFL. but they are on par with almost all the southern Lake Michigan fans. that bunch is in a world unto themselves
do not get me wrong those teams do have mostly good fans and are fun to be with but when you get down to the low of lows that region seems to take the turd prize |

Re: Lions boss calls Bears a “bunch of thugs”
Doesn't sound to me like he was trying to be descriptive (no names or examples mentioned), but more just derogatory... Then again this is the new age where fat means good, loose clothes are tight, and thug is an endearing quality to some.
