Question for the Forum
If Tony Gonzales decides he wants to play one more season, but not with Atlanta, should the Saints make an attempt to sign him?
A Sean Payton coached, Drew Brees led Saints team with Jimmy Graham, Ben Watson AND Tony Gonzales; (not sure if the Saints would carry 3 TEs)PLUS Colston, Moore, Meachem, Stills, Toon, PT and Sproles would be fairly formidable. |
Re: Question for the Forum
Why not if he'd play cheap. If not id rather use money to pay jimmy.
|
Re: Question for the Forum
Not even for the minimum salary. We don't need no mercenaries and especially not former dirty birds. He'd probably bring the Falcons' losing/choking mentality with him anyway.

Just Say No......No Thank You.
|
Re: Question for the Forum
Absolutely not! The Falcons had to pay him 7 million this year and he wouldn't even come to the training camp...
That 7 million can be used for Grahams extension and besides Watson is a damn good second TE... |
Re: Question for the Forum
Lofton has turned out to be a good trade from Atlanta so that part doesn't bother me. Gonzalez is an excellent player however he is 37 and Father Time is calling his number back in.

Re: Question for the Forum
If it was pre-Atlanta, I'd say 'yeah', but the disappointment of not retiring to win a SuperBowl this season and knowing already at Week 4 he's not gonna' accomplish that goal with Can'tlanta is going to be too much a burden on his psyche, IMO..

Re: Question for the Forum
Are you that unhappy with what we have?
I just don't understand the rash of "if we could get x-bigname would you?" At TE especially. That said, I don't sleep with the devil.... Nor do I have any sympathy for his lack of a SB ring. Especially when that devil has tortured us for years, and now that he is past his prime, we should give him a shot at a ring with a fleur-de-lis on it? Phuck Dat! He brings nothing to the table over Graham or Watson. |

Yes if there was any chance he woud stay in Atlanta. But really if he is destined not to be with Atlanta then I would let him carry on going wherever.

no

Re: Question for the Forum
We need the money to pay Graham....he's going to want a lot.
|
Re: Question for the Forum
Let's just deal in the now. I am concerned about Chicago this Sunday.
Besides I think he will retire this year no matter what. |
Re: Question for the Forum
Ben Watson is an awesome compliment to Jimmy Graham and an excellent addition to Graham...
|
Re: Question for the Forum
No way -- he is an icon of the FailClowns. He needs to retire, anyway.

Re: Question for the Forum
i would be open to the idea. let see SP up late at night playing with that 3 TE set? lmao just imagine the head aches that would cause DC.
i really think we might end up with a vet RB that wants a shot at a ring and will play for cheap to get it. Jones-Drew would be my first call on day 1 of FA to see if he would be interested. but Tony Jimmy and Ben on the field in the red zone would be some thing else to watch |
Re: Question for the Forum
No. Unlike Lofton who was disrespected at the Homeland of the Toothless, he was honored and revered, god knows why. Any association with a pillar of their community would be like inviting termites to live with us.

Re: Question for the Forum
I think the bigger worry is whether the failcons will go after Jimmy Graham who is going to be a free agent and we might not have room under the cap to give him what he deserves.

Re: Question for the Forum
I'm still thinking that Graham will take a "discount" to stay with Drew...
|
Re: Question for the Forum
To my mind, the tag IS gonna be the "discount" to stay with Drew. Worst case scenario, he'll make a ton of money, top five money. Best case scenario, he gets a long term deal that will be really sweet and cap-friendly. The situation is not as bad as people think. He is not going to ask for $80 million dollars against the cap in one year.
