Pff rates the rookies
6. John Jenkins, DT, Saints: +5.2
With Brodrick Bunkley injured after seven snaps, Jenkins has been thrust into more playing time than any expected. The results have been extremely positive with Jenkins getting some push up the gut and making more than his share of plays against the run. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blo...year-week-4-2/ |

Indeed... Not that this was not foreshadowed!

We have a really good crop of rookies this year.

Re: Pff rates the rookies
Not sure I'd agree that our rookies look great yet
Kenny Vaccaro, 1st Round, 15th Overall Vaccaro has graded negatively in 4 straight games, albeit close to positive. If his name was Harper or Jenkins most here would be bashing the crap out of him. But he does look to have some playmaking ability. Terron Armstead, 3rd Round, 75th Overall Armstead is a pick scheduled to pay off in 2014, not this year. Jonathan Jenkins, 3rd Round, 82nd Overall Damn good pick, Thanks Chris IRvory Kenny Stills, 5th Round, 144th Overall Steal of our draft. Rufus Johnson, Sixth Round, 183rd Overall Uhh, not so hot so far UDFA's... Lelito, Foster, Robinson, Reddick Huge potential, look to be good acquisitions |
Re: Pff rates the rookies
Rufus might end up being like Junior. I have hope for him.

Re: Pff rates the rookies
Games are won on more than just one play...
But an argument could be made that Vaccaro has made plays that had a more evident impact on the outcome of the game... Armstead is gonna need more time to develop - probably was a fourth rounder, but wasn't gonna be there when the Saints picked... I'd argue that Big John Jenkins was the bigger steal of the draft... Stills will replace Lance Moore in the starting lineup for the 2014 season... Believe in drafting Best Player Available, but in the case of Rufus Johnson, this was a bad selection for both him and the Saints - transitioning to a well-advanced announcement to the 34, we took a 43 defensive end?!? We could have taken an OLB or better still, another offensive linemen as our offensive line is starting to show age and wear... |
Re: Pff rates the rookies
Vaccaro made tackling en vogue in New Orleans again.
Missed tackles this year vs the last few years are a lot lower... As I try to remember all of them. |

Re: Pff rates the rookies
John Jenkins is the rookie that surprised me. I had never heard of him until the members here started posting video of him. At the time I thought that he looked slow, sluggish and had very little energy. He seemed more like a big slug that would grab you as you went by.
I was wrong from the looks of things. He is being very disruptive and is getting a good push into the back field. Crow stew anyone? :chef: |
