NE matchup

Patriots fans here just want to say good luck and how do you guys feel about coming to Foxborough for matchup.

"too favorite athletes of all time Michael Jordan and Tom Brady are fierce competitors"

Re: NE matchup

Tough game for both teams. You may have your tight end back but will he be 100%?

We don't normally play well outside but you have turf & I ginkgo the weather is going to be ok.

2 of the best QBs in the game. Should be a fun game.

Brady aint **** without Welker and Gronk.

Re: NE matchup

Brady has been counted out and managed to persevere more then a few times since his University of Michigan days ... just sayin' ... he's a competitor, a winner, and has managed to go 4-1 with what little he has to work with this season ... and there's Belichick, who's the one coach in the league you worry about as much or more then Payton?

That being said, close wins over Buffalo, the Jets and the hapless Failclowns are telling. Wilfork being out is gonna' hurt, Ridley/Gronk = questionable.

As much as I respect Brady/Belichick, I think it's too much for NE to overcome, as was shown last week vs the Bengals, against a good team.

Still ... it is Brady/Belichick ... I'd hate to get ahead of myself and see it backfire, eh?.

Geaux Saints!

Welcome TB12. Should be a good game. Gronk coming back will help y'all out. But not having other weapons for Brady to go to will allow us to keep the heat on Gronk. Nonetheless I think it will be a good hard fought game on both sides. Who Dat!

Re: NE matchup

Welcome, Tom Brady 12 and Michael Jordan 23. Sunday will be a tough test for both teams.

Willie McGinest (former Patriot great LB) said on NFL Network that the Patriots were going to have to slow the game down in order to beat the Saints. I thought that was telling in that the Patriots have been an up tempo team the past decade. But he might be right. The Saints lead the league in time of possession, having kept the ball for an average of more than 34 minutes per game (they had it 36 minutes at Chicago). So keeping Brees on the bench will be key to the Patriots victory chances. And getting Gronk can't hurt (if that happens).

Either that or he recognizes our defense for what it is.

Confusing initial looks.

Re: NE matchup

I expect this to be a good and close game. I think the biggest weapon this game is going to be Amendola. He was on a snap count last week being his first game back since week 1 but I think he will be a full go starting this week. Amendola is like welker in the regard they both are very good at getting open in zone coverage.

Tom Brady is a hall of famer, his receivers are rookies and there is a learning curve. Last week they were plagued by drops. Will it be the same this week? Who knows.

i think we win because our offense has to many weapons compared to NE right now. I don't think ya'll can keep up. The game against the Bears shows that we will take whatever the opposing D gives us and win regardless.

My score prediction: Saints 24 Pats 17

It will be another chest clutcher. But our offense can get the lead and our defense can hold it. Saints win.

Re: NE matchup

I see this as being the toughest game we'll play all season (yes, including @ Seattle). Unfortunatley our weaknesses this year are dovetailing right in with the Patriots strengths. I actually think this could be pretty low scoring game, 13-10 or something like that. And probably a slobberknocker.

Re: NE matchup

I think we surprise every one and run the ball well. Pats no longer have Vince W at NT and he was a large (pun) contributor to their defensive unit.

I love the match up. Two of the great coaches going toe to toe.

If we win this game it should prove to the doubters that our team can go on the road and win anywhere.

Saints 31 Pats 14

Re: NE matchup

Patriots defense has enough holes in it so far this season that Brees potentially can have one of those games where he goes insane.

No one has come up with a formula to beat the Saints this season. Most here are convinced our weakness is o-line, but Payton's offense has never been known as a running offense. Saints execution of the screen is as effective as any run game out there.

I have to agree with Willie McGinest: Pats have to try and win time of possession, control line of scrimmage and hope for a shootout they can pull off with the last drive.

For the Saints - keep pounding that defensive secondary on offense as it has looked bad at times this season. Saints defense needs to continue the 3 and outs where the Pats have had a hard time on 3rd down.

It's possibly a trap game as Pats coming off a loss and playing at home. Saints just need to again control time of possession and it will probably be more than enough.

halo, the pats loss was telling. No masking that against a Saints team with just as potent a front 7 as Cincy.

Re: NE matchup

Agree with you with Michael Jordan, only.
However, Brady has continued to surprise me every year since college, but Jordan is a different level.
Bill Belichick is a great coach. Going to be a tough game for both teams. Good luck to you also.

Re: NE matchup

Thank you all and here is my prediction. The last five years we went to 3 AFC Championship games and 2 superbowl appearences with to me the GOAT at QB and HC. And just last year Brady having one of his best seasons ever with a 96 QBR and the third most highest scoring offense ever without Gronk for a chunk of the season last year. And I sure hope you guys are paying attention to the defense which is the result of Belichicks finished product that he has been working on for the last few years now second in points allowed only behind Seattle. They shutdown Julio Jones and AJ Green for the most part in addition to Gresham and Eifert so expect Graham to be taken away. Additionally last week was the final time where the receivers miscommunicated as this week they will put on a show in front of Foxborough this Sunday. I just have that feeling. Also Amendola was not at full strength as he will be this game as he is more then Welker to deal with as he has more speed and quickness and can take the top off your defense. Plus Gronk and Ridley will be back And Austin Collie will debut. So we get a healthy Amendola, Edelman, Collie, Gronk, Ridley plus Thompkins and Dobson to do some work too, we should thrive. Chemistry, timing and an uptempo pace will control this game.

I have no worries about it being a trap game. Payton will be preaching the "Cheese Sermon" and bringing his congregation of Saints to a religious fervor.

True dat on this, it's just that you named the wrong players. We really don't care if Jimmy gets shut down. There's still a whole bunch of other Who Dats running all over the field that'll drive the Pats crazy.

Our defense shutdown the falcons until the final 4 minutes of the game and Aqib Talib picked off a pass stride for stride with Julio Jones and handled him greatly, as did our defense on their entire offense and adjusted to limit Tony Gonzalez, taking him out in the second half. We also shutdown all of those weapons for Cinci as Aqib took AJ Green out of the game and the rest of our defense on benard and those tightends. Weeks before, Buffalo only scored twice because we fumbled in their redzone twice and could have put up 30 if not for the Tom INT on the Goaline. Remember our defense is like up their in points allowed and Belichick has the schemes, smarts and personnel that he didn't have in 2009 on defense and we NEVER loose back to back and still have the better QB and HC first ballot HOFers still in their primes. And on offense remember the names Julian dont call me Wes Edelman and Kenbrell dont call me Chad Thompkins, and also Ridley, Legarrette dont call me Dillion Blount and Brandon dont call me Vereen Bolden.

Re: NE matchup

You're a great fan TB, it's fun to have you here! You're going to have to be able to shut down four-five quality players at the same time with us though. It's a pretty even match between us with the QB-HC situation although I think Drew is using more of his players more efficiently these days. I'm thinking we'll be bringing a bit more than your D'll be able to handle. Remember, we only need four minutes to win a game.
