New England Patriots: Gronk “Likely” To Return This Sunday

It won't matter; Saints 34-17!!!

Rob Gronkowski, the talented, albeit injury-prone tight end of the New England Patriots, may finally make his long-delayed 2013 debut this Sunday. Throughout the first five games of the season, there have been a bevy of reports circulating around this man, concerning his healthy, and his availability for the Patriots. But today we finally got a positive report, as according to Pro Football Talk, the Patriots expect Gronk to be cleared by doctors sometime this week, and they are extremely “optimistic” about him seeing the field on Sunday.

Gronk’s hopeful return couldn’t come at a better time for Tom Brady and his struggling offense. Drew Brees’ Saints are a powerful unit, and despite the New England defense showing significant strides here in 2013, I expect New Orleans to walk out of Gillette Stadium with at least 25 points. So, if the Pats want to win this game, Brady will have to out-gun Brees, and with the performance that they put on last week in Cincinnati, there is no way that is happening without their monstrous tight end.

This Saints-Patriots game was going to get sky high ratings as it is, but the return of the Patriots record smashing tight end could send the television networks into a frenzy. He is a like-able guy, and when he is 100%, there isn’t a more dominating force in the league. As a Patriots, I am praying that we see big number 87 on the field this week, and I am sure that Tom Brady is as well…he could use a familiar (and productive) face in the huddle.

I find it hard to believe that a player coming off of major surgery can have a major impact......1st game back.

I'm sure he will make an impact, but not a game changing one. He ain't no Jimmy Graham.

At a minimum he will be a red zone threat.

The worst part is if you haven't been practicing as if he is in going to be in the lineup...time to rework the scheme or else there throwing the news out there for that reason

When healthy he absolutely is. In theory he is every bit the matchup nightmare for us that Graham is for them. In theory. Who knows what he is physically capable of in his first game back from surgery, but if he's right we don't have anybody that can deal wth him.
