New Orleans Saints announce formation of Ring of Honor
Way overdue!!
The New Orleans Saints announced Wednesday the formation of a Ring of Honor that will recognize former players, administrators and individuals who have played a significant role both on the field and off the field in the franchise’s history. The Ring of Honor will be displayed prominently along the Mercedes-Benz Superdome’s Terrace Level fascia. The Saints will unveil their introductory class Sunday, Nov. 10 when the team hosts the Dallas Cowboys before a nationally televised audience. “We, as an organization, have given thoughtful consideration in an effort to properly honor the contributions of the many great people that have proudly represented the New Orleans Saints,” said Saints Owner/Chairman of the Board Tom Benson. “We are excited to induct the deserving members of the Class of 2013 and allow our fans an opportunity to honor the efforts and contributions that these people have made to our franchise.” “The history of any organization is something that should be treasured and remembered,” said Owner/Vice Chairman of the Board Rita Benson LeBlanc. “Ours is rich in tradition as it pertains to our city, our region and our fans. The legacy of those who have contributed positively to our organization and football will be reflected in this Ring of Honor.” The New Orleans Saints Ring of Honor selection committee is comprised of team ownership, front office administrators, team historian, former Saints players and selected members of the media. A special ceremony is planned for halftime of the game on Nov. 10. More details will be provided at a later date. New Orleans Saints announce formation of Ring of Honor |

We haven't had many QB's that won a playoff game...

Re: New Orleans Saints announce formation of Ring of Honor
Jason David has to be one. Jonathan Sullivan next. What was that concerned citizen's name who was at one point a trainer that turned over totally true verified documents of a bounty program? Him.
And Roger Goodell. |
Re: New Orleans Saints announce formation of Ring of Honor
This is who I got for past players:
Archie Manning, Ricky Jackson, Pat swilling, Sam mills, Willie Roaf, La Roi glover, Joe horn, Duece, Sharper, Steve Gleason, and maybe Sammy Knight and LeCharles Bentley down the line. As for present players: Colston, Graham, brees, Evans, will smith, Vilma |
Re: New Orleans Saints announce formation of Ring of Honor
Forgot Morten Andersen, I just don't see Aaron a Brooks, that's the equivalent of the 49ers putting up Jeff Garcia

Hey I'd vote for Brooks. People forget we were averaging nearly 30 points a game while he was here and our defense could stop a pop warner offense.
Say what you will, and much of it might be accurate, but we could score back then. |

Re: New Orleans Saints announce formation of Ring of Honor
i think it is a safe bet
Archie Manning, Ricky Jackson Willie Roaf maybe Pat swilling, Sam mills, i doubt it La Roi glover, Joe horn, Duece, Sharper, Steve Gleason, and maybe Sammy Knight and LeCharles Bentley down the line. |
Re: New Orleans Saints announce formation of Ring of Honor
Aaron Brooks certainly has his place in Saints history and there's nothing wrong with recognizing his accomplishments, but IMO you don't want to just put everybody on this thing.
Archie, Deuce, Morten, Horn, Mills, Rickey Jackson, Roaf are the no-brainers, Then you have a whole slew of guys like Eric Martin, Wayne Martin, Stan Brock, Abramowicz, Mora, Jim Finks, Dempsey, Waymer, Jerry Fontenot, Dalton Hilliard, Jim Wilks, Swilling, etc. etc. etc. Those are guys that come well before short-timers like Sharper, Bentley, Knight, Glover and a few others mentioned. As much as I'd like to see all those players recognized you have to draw a line somewhere. |

Re: New Orleans Saints announce formation of Ring of Honor
I like this idea, should of been done years ago. The Saints actually do have a history, just look at the hall of fame at the Dome. Besides Dave Dixon, Gleason and the Dome Patrol should be the first group to be added

Re: New Orleans Saints announce formation of Ring of Honor
So what is the difference between the Ring of Honor and the already existing Saints Hall of Fame?

Re: New Orleans Saints announce formation of Ring of Honor
Jim Mora ok the man that won on the house Bum built? the wrecked it. pass oh please just pass on that one. he was the offense guru in the scheme and we all know that era was all about defense
|
Re: New Orleans Saints announce formation of Ring of Honor

so Im having to sneak a way to see the games..... I didnt know where we got Blake, (Yes I know from Cinn, but I didnt know HOW.) Then he gets hurt, and this Brooks guy comes in, and we are SCORINGGG! I just remember thinking how weird it was that we had a team that could SCORE. On OFFENSE. It was surreal, seriously. |
Re: New Orleans Saints announce formation of Ring of Honor
Who would vote in Bum?
Realize without Bum, Mora has no Dome Patrol. |

Sorry no Bum! |
Re: New Orleans Saints announce formation of Ring of Honor
Number 1 nomination - WhoDats.
That would get them going for another 46 years. |
Re: New Orleans Saints announce formation of Ring of Honor
"Ring of Honor" shouldn't it be the "Gumbowl of Honor?"
|
Re: New Orleans Saints announce formation of Ring of Honor
Jim Finks, a double edged sword there. He brought in the talent and he let it walk away. Morten and Bobby.
|
Re: New Orleans Saints announce formation of Ring of Honor
If you ever wore a failcon jersey, then your name shall not be considered; may the Lord have mercy on your soul.
|
Re: New Orleans Saints announce formation of Ring of Honor
The first three?
Should be Archie Manning, Derland Moore, and Danny Abramowicz... Then, the Dome Patrol... Rickey Jackson, Sam Mills, Vaughn Johnson, and Pat Swilling should geaux in together on their own... After that... Willie Roaf, La'Roi Glover and Tom Myers... Any former Saints that left to play for the Atlanta Falcons are DISAVOWED and in a STATE OF DISGRACE and will have to perform seven feats of charity in South Louisiana to show penance and atone for the wrong they committed... |
Re: New Orleans Saints announce formation of Ring of Honor
Oh, Stan Brock should also be up for consideration; he was a rock at Left Tackle and never got his due...
