Consider it buried. I'm not mad, just disappointed -- and I want us to at least consider the possibility of a perfect season -- I mean -- how does it happen otherwise?

I notice you aren't exactly a veteran either. And, I've been around here for several years -- just forgot my login so had to start a new account.

The Saints are trying to win every game until they lock up the top spot. They went for the unbeaten in 2009 when we still needed to prove to the world that we were a real contender, then got beaten by the Cowboys and gave up the ghost. This year you can bet we will play hard until (really, if) we lock up homefield, then we take our foot off the gas and prepare for the post-season. The Pats went 16-0 as a statement after Spygate, otherwise they would have done the same. A perfect season would obviously be wonderful, but no team will get there unless they are pushed to it by another team because the risk of injury, and missed opportunities to gameplan and come up with new things for games that actually matter, are simply not worth the reward. I totally get where you are coming from as a fan, but don't get emotionally involved in perfection because no team is going to chase it unless they have some other reason to do so.

Yeah, your points are well taken especially about injuries and risk vs. reward.

Glad to see the back of that "unbeaten" tag off of our shoulders, it just becomes a distraction for the team.

Credit to the Pats, they did their homework and it paid off for them.

Hope the nicks that DS and JG got are not serious, plus we get a break now, so hopefully any injuries we have get a good chance to heal!

Anyway, think positive, as I type this message we are 5-1 going into the bye week. Sounds real good to me!

Those of you that are not feeling too happy at the moment . . . . . . Well just be thankful that you are not a Giants fan!

GEAUX SAINTS!!!!

I wished we would have stayed with the run-game once it started to work. Anyway 5-1 is a great start!

Good loss for us going into the bye. The offense needs to gel and awaken. We learned some good lessons today. One is we can be beaten by a good team.

Yea, I'm disappointed as well. Would loved to have seen us blow the doors off of everyone this year. We're still in great position in the division as well as the conference. Hopefully the guys will learn from this and go on a tear the rest of the way.

I agree, but at this point I'm just glad the run game started to work.

I noticed that in almost every game I watched ... the refs are either overcompensating with the PI calls or missing obvious ones. I don't ever blame the refs for a win/loss, but the lack of consistency and then the apparent "make-up" calls are starting to get on my nerves.

You da' man! ... hopefully you get 'em right the rest of the way and the Saints do indeed go 12-4,.

Huge mental error ... it was at that point I conceded that Brady was going to perform another of his patented, last-second comebacks,. The boys were tired, they had given it all they had and crossed that line where physical exhaustion begins to affect the mental process ... <sigh>.

Both sides expected a better performance. HoF QBs and Coaches on both sides of the ball.

I mulled over the loss, doesn't feel bad at all being 5 -1 headed into the bye week, im sure our team will re group after a hard fought loss and be back at it after the bye week. Have to admit it was a great game to watch

It was a great game to watch (just watched it again). It was an amazing game to watch aside from some very bias officiating, but I am over all that. I hope our guys come out healthy and ready to go. The Bills at home should be a walk through, however if we have trouble it may be a sign of this loss lingering around. How we come out and play the Bills will be very telling for the rest of the season; sometimes adversity can be a good test.

Here's to 6-1 in two weeks!

Bills and then the Jets, we should be an easy 7-1 before the schedule gets tough

Nothing is easy in the NFL.. We should go into every game feeling like the underdog from now on.. Hungry.

And no premature celebrating that looked bad.

Re: Five and One

This game hurts because we had em. 10 seconds away from 6-0, and
an impressive win vs. a power team in their own house.
Plus my kids were really into it, and I hate for them to be disappointed.

Positives: The defense looked GOOOOOD.
Offense still hasnt gotten completely uncorked. Im looking forward
to the rest of the season.

WhoDAt, yall.

It is all in how you frame our record brother.

4-0 conference.
3-0 at home.
2-0 division.
5-0 All non Belichick coached teams.

#1 NFC

I can also guarantee you no loss this week.

Before the season I had our record at 13-3, with a possible loss after the NE game, but I so wanted them to win that game.

Re: Five and One

We have one of these games every year with Payton and Brees. Too hard headed to come out and run the ball when you should be able to. Always wanting to throw the ball to prove you can. We had too many 3 and outs to start the game because we came out throwing instead of trying to establish the run which we should have been able to do with both Wilfork and Kelly out. We take the bad games with the good because this is the Payton and Brees mentality and it's usually successful. 13-3 New York bound.

That sounds good on the surface, and I applaud you for putting a positive spin on a negative situation, but I still don't agree.

We were much healthier than they were. If the Patriots had lost, I'm sure Belichik would have said there were no excuses. But as an outsider I can definitely say that they should have been at a disadvantage. They had some calls go their way, but even still, we left a lot of points on the board and did a horrible job against a bunch of no name receivers. Tom Brady might be a hall of famer, but we saw the Bengals show what even a hall of famer looks like without weapons.

They've struggled all year offensively, quite frankly. When it came to our defense, not only did they give up 30 points, but the Patriots dropped a ton of passes that would have made it worse. This isn't to take away from how the Saints have played overall. It's just that this particular game was a give away, and that's what's disappointing to me.

Re: Five and One

Its more the way we lost than the loss that is disappointing.
Had it been a 10pt game its easier to say bad day at the office lets move on than a loss that was both self and officials imposed. Two years ago it was a loss to the Rams that in my opinion stopped a sevond ring. Both the Saints and 49ers finished with identical recirds but we ended up the third seeds and had to head to San Fran rather than host them.Had the game been at the dome we do not loose imo and would havr knocked the Giants off for another Superbowl appearance.

Im just hoping that defeat doesnt have similar reprocussions later

It won't. I think we call all agree on that.
