What was difference with the Sproles hit?

I think I'm missing something. There are always questionable calls in games, but I have no idea why the hit on the defenseless reciever penalty by Jenkins was called and the hit later in the game on Sproles was not called for the same thing?

That made no sense to me and still doesn't. Just a non-call I suppose but it appeared to be as "bad" or worse then the Jenkins play. Not that it would have changed the game, but in the interest of player safety it seems terribly inconsistent. The one Bush had on the sidelines wasn't called either, if I remember correctly.

The reasoning behind some of the horrendous calls in this game will never be answered for.

We will always be punished for being the New Orleans Saints.

If anyone can find the clip on the Sproles hit, check out the official intially reaching for his flag then pulls his hand away suggesting someone shook their head saying don't throw it. Guarantee Mayo gets fined this week for that hit, hell he knocked himself out the game with a concussion.

Officially the penalty was Unnecessary roughness. Which I don't see why it was called he clearly intended to hit where the ball was to knock it loose not try and hurt the player.

They should have called hitting defenseless player for Sproles though. They were not going for the ball.

The only consistent thing about those "defenseless" calls is the inconsistency with them.

Its crap. They need to re-think all this namby pamby garbage, and go
back to playing football the way its always been played.

If they're scared of being sued, have the players sign a waiver of
liability. "I understand that football can possibly knock my head off, leave me
unable to walk, or turn my brain into mush.

"I understand that if at any time, I feel the risk is not worth it,
I may walk away, and use the college degree I acquired for
free because I play football."

"I certify that no one is forcing me to play football. If money is
the only consideration, the same can also be said for prostitution
and drug dealing, so that argument is mush."

Possibly because sproles is black? Lol or because he's small and no one cares about the little people.

Mayo is now on IR for this play. He's a good player and no ill will towards him. Hopefully Darren is healing up well because that was a vicious hit.

Was just on the Pats board. All they can do is whine about us discussing the officiating and talk about what low-class trash we are.

I respect the Patriots immensely as a team, but from what I've seen of their message board, I am starting to understand why the fans of all the other AFC teams hate them so much. Talk about a bunch of jerks.

I went to the game in the Superdome in 2009 and your description fits them to a T. They're like a pompous version of Philly fans. Several of them were raging mad as the game went into the 4th quarter.

LOL, yes, it's pretty bad. My nephew was posting furiously on their site, I was like man, it's totally not worth it. If they want to be hateful and embarrass themselves that is their own deal. There are some really nasty people on that board.

I mean, even Falcons fans behave better than that. At least, the coherent ones do. :D
