They had to place someone on the practice squad after Griffin was promoted. Wilson wasn't eligible so it makes sense they would sign another OLB.

Section 4. Eligibility:

(a) The Practice Squad shall consist of the following players, provided that they have not served more than two previous seasons on a Practice Squad: (i) players who do not have an Accrued Season of NFL experience; and (ii) free agent players who were on the Active List for fewer than nine regular season games during their only Accrued Season(s). An otherwise eligible player may be a Practice Squad player for a third season only if the Club by which he is employed that season has at least 53 players on its Active/Inactive List during the entire period of his employment.

(b) A player shall be deemed to have served on a Practice Squad in a season if he has passed the club's physical and been a member of the club's Practice Squad for at least three regular season or postseason games during his first two Practice Squad seasons, and for at least one regular season or postseason game during his third Practice Squad season. (For purposes of this Section, a bye week counts as a game provided that the player is not terminated until after the regular season or postseason weekend in question.)

True, but if he was loaded with skills and instinct he probably wouldn't have been cut, three times.

Obviously we see some potential there. Maybe he's a Raphael Bush type and just needs a few years of development and the right fit.

Or maybe he's just an emergency insurance policy that can play special teams if one of our back-up LB's on the roster have to play more snaps.

I watched this guy play in college. HUGE liability in pass coverage. Maybe they want a rusher, but this guy couldnt defend a pee wee receiver. I mean it was bad. Probably worst I have ever seen on that level.

Practice squad.........its nothing more than a name if you ask me. I cant think of anyone that has ever been successful after having come up from it.

No kidding, there have been plenty of great talent come up from practice squad. Kurt Warner after he came in from Canada is one. Tony Romo another.

I still don't understand why we cut Wilson. It seems he was gonna be good for us this year when he finally got healthy. You can't tell me we didn't have ANYONE else that could have been cut instead. Bad attitude maybe? Injury issues?

He was behing others on the roster st OLB and we seem to be mostly playing with 3 safeties and s front 4 and he was the odd man out.
I wish him all the best and hopes things work out but he only had this year and next year ob his contract.He was due over 700k next year and Parys Haralson will need paid and money is tight.

Pure business decision imo, he has had time to make his mark and for whatever reason it didn't work out.The coaches must really like Griffin's long term potential.

Pierre Thomas was never on the practice squad. He made the 53 and never looked back.
