Newly acquired Saints cornerback Mike McKenzie learned he would start against the Minnesota Vikings Sunday night when he stepped on the practice field with the first unit Wednesday.

Fred Thomas, the player McKenzie replaces, said he was informed Tuesday by Coach Jim Haslett and defensive coordinator Rick Venturi.

I think the only thing Ambrose has over Thomas is the interceptions. Of course, he wouldn\'t have had them if he had actually been covering his man. They were under-thrown which is EXACTLY where Ambrose happen to be, five steps BEHIND his receiver.

Thomas is no speed demon for either. Look, I loved Ambrose back in the day, I\'ll admit it, but I can agree that he\'s hurting us. However, he\'s been way better against the run and in the flats than Thomas this year. Also, he has the size to jam WRs that Thomas does not. I was surprised when I heard that Thomas would be the one moved to the nickle, but with a bit smarter scheming, Ambrose\'s weakness against the long, mid-range and deep passes can be covered up. It is hard to scheme for Thomas\' lack of size, and, since I agree with BnB, his lack of agression so far this season.

Does anyone know when Craft might be back?

Didn\'t know about the injuries. I hope that\'s the reason he looks bad. Hopefully, he\'ll be able to overcome this and return to form, like how he was playing during the preseason.

Frankly, I think Fahkir should get a shot. I like that kid a lot and he has developed well and seems to have a real work ethic. He isn\'t as savvy as Ambrose, but he\'s much faster right now and more physical than Thomas. I like him, I\'d like to see him play.

ambrose is by no means good n thomas has played worse. i\'d like to see us take a a chance on someone like brown who ive seen play pretty well this year.

anyway i was trying to say that ambrose at times has been beat but as a whole has been pretty steady. may have to do with thomas just being bad. if he is hurt that would explain it. let him get healthy then

Brown will get his shot starting over Ambrose within the next two weeks. Craft is fine but has failed to work his way past his current 5th spot on depth chart and is impressing no one anymore. Once Thomas is 100%, you can bet he will be opposite McKenzie provided Brown doesnt blossom in the next few weeks. I sure hope McKenzie performs well against Moss if he wants to land that shut-down CB salary next year.
