Deflated game ball goes to?

I'm going with Toon. He had an opportunity to change the momentum of the game a couple of times. When he missed that long pass that's when you knew it would be a long day.

Hartley was 2 of 3 on FGs and lost by 6; take him off the list and add the entire O-Line.

Defense is not entirely blameless by allowing Tusk to run wild, but they did force a 3 & out late to give the Saints a chance

His miss set the tone and fired up the Jets. You can't look at every play in a vacuum. He was a contributor to the downward spiral that we saw today.

He stays on the list.:p

Entire offensive line but mostly DLP and Grubbs, what a "fantastic signing" he's turning out to be, losing carl nicks was the worst thing to happen to our O line

Nick Toon - Had the chance to change the game a couple times, the pass he dropped gave all the momentum to the jets, the ball he tipped to cromartie just added salt to the wound.

Grubbs has totally and completely outplayed Carl Nicks since the swap.

Losing Carl Nicks was the worst thing to happen to Carl Nicks.

I would give it to Ivory, he deflated the ball for us today. Karma for getting rid of a productive runner and keeping one that has not, karma is a bit$h.

Imma say sean payton for getting too cute with the play calling. The buck stops there, maybe Carmichael should take over calling plays.

Ivory a productive runner? He could not be depended on. IRvory has always had explosive games only to disappear. He's been hurt for the Jets as well.

I'm starting to think maybe we would have been better off not keeping either of them and spending the money on upgrading the O-line.

Mainly because Carl Nicks hasn't played a lick since leaving us due to the leprosy or whatever the hell he caught down there in Tampa LOL. Let that be a lesson to our O-Linemen... Don't chase the money; just stay here.

Edit: Unless you're DLP... Then feel free to walk after this season!

I'd love to Robinson get more carries, since PT wouldn't last the season if he was getting all the carries.

I'd like to see Cadet get some carries too, we probably need more scat-back types if our O-line keeps struggling.

On a 4th and 1 run, I trust PT and pretty much no one else.

That was my point. I'll bet Nicks regrets leaving, although he'd never say it.

DLP is the prime goat of the day for me. He just might be the worst Center in the NFL, and I challenge anyone to name one that is worse. For one it would enlightened me, and secondly it can be said that at least we don't have the worst starting Center in the league...just the second worst. Just sad today to see a grown man embarrass himself plus get repeatedly embarrassed for a paycheck. Awful.

Re: Deflated game ball goes to?

This isn't a cop out answer I'm gonna give. I honestly give the deflated ball to the entire team. we couldn't run, catch or block. Drew forced a lot of passes again and kept letting the play clock run down. Defensively we couldn't tackle all day, and the play calling was abysmal. Running a reverse on 4th and inches was mind blowingly stupid, but running that reverse with a 3RD STRING TE whom I don't even know where he came from was stupid beyond any words that I can possibly come up with.

Run defense has been a concern of mine all year we have been getting gashed all yr but we get up on teams and there forced to abanond the run or it would be worse

Exactly. We haven't really stopped anybody on the ground (even Lamar Miller gashed us) all year, yet a lot of pundits have been either missing that fact altogether or they have made some sort of excuse for it. But you're right, without some of the big leads we've had when we're actually playing well, we might be dead last in run defense.

There's no question we're getting a much better pass rush this year, but overall it's starting to look like our defense isn't all that good afterall. I hope I'm wrong.

That's not saying to much Grubbs has looked like grub for any DT but still rather have him over Carl nicks now

After an afternoon of prayer and soul searching I have to give the deflated game ball to Micky Loomis for not having the foresight to see this crushing, monumental loss coming back in 2009. Yes, Loomis' horrible decision to resign Brees and not trade him away after the championship season (for what ever we would be lucky enough to get mind you! seriously guys THE WINDOW HAS CLOSED!) has ultimately doomed us. 6-2? More like worst season ever!

the team as whole stunk the place up.
defense got ripped by an offense lead by a rookie QB.
Offense once again showed it needs help.
coaching was well below average.

the ball goes to Tom Benson to remind him he has some work still to do to this team and to go and kick some butts all across the board

Deflated ball goes to Hill.. just cause he was just as shocked as we were he got the ball.

If Carl nicks never went to tampa he wouldnt have had the staph infection, just saying that whenever brees has to roll to his left, you will most likely see grubbs either face down on the turf or getting pushed back into drew

That never happened with Nicks

This is the answer to this thread. Good job, BM.
Even our posting sucked this week.

Payton awful game plan play calling. Toon and other recievers cost us this game. How can we trust Hartley this guy needs a psych? Brees and DLP need to get their S%$# together.

Re: Deflated game ball goes to?

I believe toon was the nail in the cofin, yes the whole team was off but the game changers were in toons hand, i dont know what he was trying to do with those stupid dives. One pass which anyone of our other recievers would of made could of resulted in a touchdown even if he didnt bring it into the endzone himself, and the second he trys to tackle the ball and tips it for a interception.. His chance to step up were in this game and he failed.

Toon. Catch either one of those balls and we win.

Re: Deflated game ball goes to?

I was gonna go with Toon, too...those 2 "doinks!" were pretty sad. I just thought DLP had a much, much sadder day with his jackassery in the 1st quarter and consistently getting beat like a drum all day. Also, with an average NFL center to help push the pile in short yardage, Payton does NOT call a Gawd-awful 4 & inches reverse with a 3rd string TE. Coin toss between Toon & DLP, and DLP got the honors from this perspective.

Barry from MS 11-04-2013 09:15 PM

Re: Deflated game ball goes to?

FYI for the Toon haters, courtesy of Canal Street Chronicles:

"Nick Toon: F (1.50) After Graham against the Patriots he's my second F of the season. He dropped a very catchable deep ball by Brees that could have broken the game open early and then he dropped an easy out ball that popped up for an interception. Toon was a disaster and frankly I hope he doesn't see the field again this season. The guy is just not NFL ready. Even the times he was open later Brees didn't trust him."
