Question for the Forum

Would you rather have:

A: an often-injured Ivory

B: a one-yard and a cloud of dust Ingram

DISPLACEDFAN 11-03-2013 07:28 PM

Re: Question for the Forum

I'd take the A awnser anyday considering the A awnser has had a few 100 yrd games to B's none

Ingram isn't 1 yard and a cloud of dust. He averaged 4.8 today and is just a hair under 4 YPC for his career.

I case you haven't noticed none of our other RBs are tearing the league up right now I guess everyone needs a scapegoat though.

Re: Question for the Forum

Jets opened some nice holes for him. Most of what he did for us was on his own, busting through garbage from my memory or sacrificing his body to churn out a few more yards. He would not last long this season behind our line to answer the question.

I would rather have the jets o-line and any RB today.

C) A RB off the street and an offensive line that doesn't look like a group of boys playing against a group of men.

It's not a matter of needing a scapegoat. It's about Ingram being our worst running back.

It's true that our offensive line has struggled this year, and we've all been on them. But whereas Thomas is averaging 3.5 ypc and Sproles 3.9, you have Ingram with a blistering 1.8 clip. What's more disturbing is that Robinson is averaging 4.4 a carry and he was deactivated in favor of Ingram.

Ingram did average 4.8 today... on 4 carries. He had 19 yards, 13 of which came on one run with a rare gaping hole. He's supposed to be a bruiser, yet never can seem to get the yards when we need them.

Re: Question for the Forum

Ingram has nearly as much bench-riding time as Ivory had and as far as regrets, the only traded player with 140 yards today was Ivory.

Alaska

Re: Question for the Forum

Ingram didn't lose the game for us today and having Ivory would not have won it for us either.

Transparent scapegoating.

Agreed. Team loss. Unless Ingram plays DT.

Re: Question for the Forum

He's not a bruiser. Again, he even said this when he was drafted. He's no Deuce. Never going to be that and I knew it when we drafted him. I did however think he would be more involved in the passing game and he is not. I honestly don't understand it. He made some great catches in PS...

I know he's not a bruiser, and I was one of those who criticized drafting him from the start, so this isn't just a knee jerk reaction. But they have advertized him as a bruiser and tried to make him the short yardage grinder, with zero success. And yeah, they also said he'd be great for play action, yet he might have 10 catches for his career.

I'm not sure what the actual number is, but I know he's been a non factor in the passing game as you said.

Re: Question for the Forum

Ok... I see that there was a comparison made between the two guys, but I don't think it was about who would have won the game.

Ivory was always a better player. But I don't miss him that much, considering Khiry Robinson seems like a very similar player and perhaps more explosive. The coaches just don't seem willing to trust him for whatever reason.

Re: Question for the Forum

I dont really care. Its 6 one way half a dozen the other. Both situations are less than ideal. I just want a line that several different backs can gain yards behind.

I hear ya 403, and I'm not getting in on any of this. I'm just reading and scratching my head.

It ain't the RB. It's the o-line.

Nope, they're laughing at all the knee jerk drama queens we have on our forums.

Re: Question for the Forum

Calling our fans drama queens is harsh. I'd call it passionate fans discussing the game and what they saw and things they feel need to change or get better. Its what being a fan is all about.i don't think its any different on any other teams fan site out there

wasn't the choice

Neither of them stay healthy enough to warrant a roster spot, but I'm quite happy with what we got for Ivory. John Jenkins has outplayed both Ingram and Ivory this year...

Drama aside ill continue to say this team is the 2010 Saints all over again. 4th Ranked D in 2010, but couldn't run the ball to save our lives. Brees forced the ball all over the field. We lost games just like the game we lost to the Jets. The further this season moves along the more similar looking to 2010 it becomes.

11-5 season, and we better watch out for Carolina cause they are on a roll.

Adjustments need to be made. This team is too talented to play the way it did.

Ughhh...one of these posts. My preference to the question: I'd rather have bacon-stuffed grilled shrimp with bacon-wrapped rocky road ice cream than oft-injured Ivory and the disappointment Ingram...I can depend on my bacon addiction to not let me down and actually show up every Sunday from September to January.
