WENT TO THE GAME TODAY

Went to the game today and a few things caught my eye. NICK TOON NEEDS TO LEARN HOW TO CATCH THE DAMN BALL!!!!! every game he bobbles or flat out drops a monster would be reception. What happened to Colston and Sproles I know 12's knee was an issue this week but 43 is a head scratcher? and WHT IN THE FLYING F YOU CK was "Super Bowl Winning Head Coach" Sean Payton Thinking Calling a Damn Tight End AROUND ON 4th and inches? I love Drew Brees as our leader and want to preserve him from un-necessary hits too BUT WHY DO WE NOT RUN A QB SNEAK OR DIVE IN 4th AND INCHES SITUATIONS, Have we even converted on 4th and inches yet this season I've seen many more situation where we are going for it on 4th and we don't convert smh. And last but not least I had a Great time at MetLife Stadium got super duper smashed with some jets fans tailgating and scored a couple free beers in the stadium some dude was falling down the stairs I quickly caught him and saved his beer in the process

Re: WENT TO THE GAME TODAY

Colston hurt and wasn't practicing before Sunday.
Sproles suffered a concussion early in the 1st quarter.
Can't disagree with much, that end around was a bad call. A sneak would have gotten the INCH needed.

Thanks for the update!!

I tried criticizing this very same play but it didn't work out very well. Apparently it's a sin to say that Payton shouldn't be calling the plays.

Re: WENT TO THE GAME TODAY

If he goes for 12+ yards then Payton's a genius, AGAIN.
We've seen that dipsy-doodle, double-reverse half-back pass to the
tackle-eligable ever since Sean Payton showed up. Not surprised.
We learn to take a deeeeeeeeep breath and move on.
Just wish that you were the one cheesing when the game was over.
Sounds like you had a blast.

Totally agree with the dim-witted play calling. WTF?!?!

We need to rip out whatever plays are currently in the playbook for 3rd and inches or 4th and inches -- BECAUSE WHAT IS IN THERE RIGHT NOW IS NOT WORKING. Yup, it's a do over.

Good job on saving the beer ( oh, and the Jet's fan ).

come on the the quick trap to the full back and the full back in the flat were brilliant calls. so 2 out of 3 aint so bad?

I didn't say the whole playbook, Hagan. :-)

Done with this game. Toon choked, goofy bouncing balls, and Ivory looked like he had a new bionic hamstring made from drag line silk.

Re: WENT TO THE GAME TODAY

Toon is just not a good player, he has all the makings to be an outstanding WR and he drops every god damn pass

Re: WENT TO THE GAME TODAY

I'm a fan of the game and the Saints, and As a football fan I DO NOT condone a TE sweep on 4th down with inches to go Its just plain UNACCEPTABLE! espescially if its to josh Hill im sure he will develope into a legit target but he hasnt moved me from what I've seen of him. Toon right now is a heartbreaker he def will be a very good player once he catches the ball consistantly...BRING BACK PRESTON PARKER! Sorry guys Andy Tanner isnt worth a spot he doesnt add to the offense

I was thinking the same dam thing.

Re: WENT TO THE GAME TODAY

We always fail hard at the end of games

Jed drops an easy 1st down that he's made thousands of times
Toon finally makes a catch and its called back for holding

we had 2 minutes left when the drive started and we went 9 yards backwards for 4th and 19

He missed a 42 yarder that inspired the Jets. He did not play well.

whoops... forgot about that.
too much whiskey.
Well see, even my posting is struggling and inconsistent this week.

We've all done some stupid posting this week, being hugely overconfident,
botching facts, relying too much on Cat pictures. I know many of us
are nursing injuries and personal problems.

OUr entire organization from Tom Benson down to the guy who just started
posting on the board, is going to have to shake this week off, get up, dust
off, and get back to the grind.

Re: WENT TO THE GAME TODAY

also, Bobby wasnt drunk enough on the Point After.

Lets just rebuild for next week.

Re: WENT TO THE GAME TODAY

Hartley needs to make his damn kick. I will say though that stadium def has a wind tunnel effect The kick looked good but shanked late the wind started blowing crazy around 3rd down of that drive, Those B.S pull the guard and tackle screen plays hurt us. The jets won the game on coaching, Rex coached them up and had a solid game plan for the contest. They used our aggressive style on D to get big plays, those ivory runs almost all came from weak side stretch plays off tackle I was in the corner of the end zone I saw a lot of down down kickout traps that kept our dline from shuffling through the L.O.S. They had a few lucky plays, and I would like to think Rob toned it down a little as if we slaughtered geno smith how we should have and I expected then rex would be fired

Re: WENT TO THE GAME TODAY

First and foremost I'm glad to see that you had no conflicts at Metlife stadium. Secondly, the lack of a consistent running attack just once again underscored the fact that we didn't run the ball effectively and part of that falls on the O-Line. We need to find a good Center in this upcoming draft, De La Puenta isn't cutting it, we still haven't recovered from losing Goodwin. That being said, we are still 6-2, and with the coming game the Sunday Night hame we should be 7-2. We just need to be consistent and find ourselves.

Re: WENT TO THE GAME TODAY

I don't think the Saints run the QB sneak with Brees. They do the goal line play where he sorta jumps and holds it out, extends the ball over the line, like the famous Miami '09 game, but a real proper QB sneak, where he's running into the pile?

I can't even remember the last time the Saints ran one?? Anyone???

Maybe it's because of his shoulder or something, I don't know. But you're right, it doesn't seem to even be in the playbook.

I agree we need to run better our LT C and LG could use a look at upgrading. Grubbs and Brown are penalized too much and he was getting worked early and often they blitzed off of which ever side Graham was on flushing 9 right into the end that was kicking browns as all game. DLP went up against a very skilled DL in Wilkerson they spent much of the game from my vantage point looking in the backfield and I saw an onslaught of power and finesse moves unleashed on DLP that's why those sacks looked like jail breaks!

I'm a New Yorker I live in NJ one guy tried to start some ish but I fixed him quick" I'm a Saints Fan talk about my team don't talk about me I'm from Brooklyn I have no issue splitting your head" the jet fans around me got him kicked out for trying to instigate with me so justice was served, but don't get it confused the Jets have an unruly fan base though I was a senior in HS my dads a jet fan so we went to the last game they came to Nj for the jets back in 05 Sunday Night Football before the payton era and had to get it on in the bathroom just cus I wanted to use the bathroom and I was a Saints fan so trust me I kept my head on a swivel at yesterdays game

Re: WENT TO THE GAME TODAY

I'd take a quick snap and dive forward for 1 inch everytime on 4thdown the plays that take you behind the guards aren't successful for us

Re: WENT TO THE GAME TODAY

After 2 attempts with Jed, if we went up the gut again and got stuffed folks would be griping about how obvious it was and that we shouldn't go up the gut, espcially if it was with Ingram. 3rd try had to be something they weren't ready for. It could have been a huge gain, but it wasn't. Toon won't be giving the Dallas D 2 INTs next week, that's for sure.

+1. Watching Cadet fill in for Sproles on kick offs concerns me. I always thought Preston was our sure special team ace considering that he had a really solid camp. I'm still wondering when will we see the Canadian super star (can't recall his name) WR/returner we signed a few weeks back.

I dont think payton should be calling plays either, pete carmichael called the plays in 2011 and we had the best offense weve ever had and i think the best one in nfl history

Payton hasnt been getting it done this season, getting away from the run way too easily, for christs sake we ran TWICE in the 2nd quarter vs jets

Payton must have picked up some tips from Mike Smith on how NOT to convert a 4th and short.

As Bill Parcells stated several times, Payton gets pass fever.

Says who? I happen to agree with you 100%. He's a great OC and a great HC, but he tends to get way too pass happy as a full time play-caller.
