We need lions or 49ers to win their divisions

Because if this happens packers will end up the last wild card, and assuming we at least go 11-5(we should win one of our next home games and Atl, then StL, one of the Car games and if nothing crazy TB) we can still have the second bye. GB is going to win in Detroit if they face in the playoffs. Then GB gets to go to Seattle, and with all the tensions about that last game the packers can knock the seahawks off. That gives us hfa.

Rodgers will have Cobb back by then, Seattle will have one corner on Nelson(who will draw Sherman thanks to Cobb's injury) and Browner(who hasnt been as good) on Jones. That opens up the slot and they have the running game to worry about. But GB is going to rattle Seattle some on defense, Lynch could be all they have. In cold weather and a better QB in a balanced offense, GB could prove to be the intimidating cold weather solution to that place.

By losing to the 49ers, we give SF the division(packers>vikings, redskins>giants) if they beat Seattle week 14. That means we would not have to go to Seattle in playoffs, but Candelstick and that place isnt Qwest by a mile. A rematch is good for us. But in this situation we still will need lions to win division. Or we will not get the bye and would face lions in wild card round, which we should pull out before going to GB. Can we beat them in cold weather with no knowledge prior?

This is some of the weirdest logic for winning and losing games I have ever seen :)

I would agree that going to Seattle is worst. Closely followed by Green Bay in honesty. But to see a whole host of games move around in and out of our favour is 'fun' but not realistic.

I have a much easier concept. Let's win out. As things stand that would guarantee us the #1 seed! :)

Exactly...

Re: We need lions or 49ers to win their divisions

I don't think I want us to win out. Its too early to do that and then have to play three more games. I'd worried about us being tired and taking the regular season too seriously like Denver and NE do. Whether y'all want to believe this or not, the seahawks and 49ers hurt their selves by racing each other for top seed. Their players will be worn out. You can't expect a less worn Harvin or Crabtree to take the place at the same level as Sherman, Lynch, Willis, Gore. It doesnt work that way.

With the way its being set up, we are looking at being the underdog with the most experience. Everyone will be touting NE/Den vs.Sea/SF, and Indy, Cinci, or KC just are not seasoned enough to upset the AFC two, while we will be the one who has a rematch against the team or teams that will be touted as the favorites.

We've had 13 and 11 game win streaks in the past. I do believe an 11 game win streak would do it.

1. Rogers will have no one with a fractured collar bone. When Crabtree comes back he will have Seneca Wallace.
2. There is no such thing as wearing players out trying to win in the regular season. if you don't win in regular season there is no post season.

*"dont want us to win out".. What the heck?

I know you didnt know about #1 when you posted... And that is my point. Too much football left to be played to invest so much energy in scenarios that become moot on 1 play in week 9.

Green Bay is done if Rogers is out for any length of time. It's going to be Chicago or Detroit who wins division.

I was talking about Michael Crabtree from the 49ers

Actually there is. Maybe its not the case with us but Manning and Brady's post season failures can be attributed to their team's careless wins over teams they would play again in playoffs. Taking a few wins over from 14-2 is still playoffs and still good enough for them to have won their divisions. No good deed goes unpunished. This is a payback league. Teams use HFA as a crutch.

At the end of the day, to control our destiny, we have to win all our games...

If we want to be the best, we have to best them all...

But playing Seattle twice in Seattle in a season will be very tough, then have to fly back to New York and win the tournament against the AFC champion - that would be a truly daunting feat...

"Careless wins"... I can't begin to apply any logic to that.

So teams should intend to lose?

agreed we control what happens. but if we are to back into the playoffs we want

1 chicago to win it and at worst have the same record as us. we win the tie break

2 san fran and we must repeat the tie breaker by beating them

3 most importantly we must beat dallas this week.

I don't care who wins the north or west, as long as San Fran and NE tear Carolina apart.

Saints What If?

6 out of 8 again guarantees playoffs
5 out of 8 gives us over 99% chance
4 out of 8 gives us about a 7 in 8 chance

That being said 6-2 from here - maybe 7-1 if the ball bounces right for us

Cutler's supposed to be back for Sunday's game vs Detroit ... puts them back on top of the Division, in all probability.

Wouldn't this effect home field advantage?

hagan714 11-06-2013 05:35 PM

Re: We need lions or 49ers to win their divisions

yep thats why the tie breaker is important. all end up with the same record

beat chicago no trip to the windy city
beat san fran no trip to the golden gate

so all we need to do is win.

first up the cow girls

Re: We need lions or 49ers to win their divisions

Things changed since Monday...............
Seattle's remaining games
@Falcons
Vikings-W
Saints
@SF-L
@NYG-W
Ari-W
StL-W
I leave out our game and Atlanta as seahawks have a real chance of losing this week. If Seattle wins, they will likely be holding off Atlanta at the end, as its always that way in Atlanta.
12-2

SF
Car-W
@NO
@Was
StL-W
Sea-W
@TB-W
Atl-W
@Ari-W(if it matters)

I'm seeing a road split with us and redskins so I'm giving SF 13-3. 12-4 if Zona game doesnt matter.

Detroit(currently 1st based on tiebreaker)
@Chicago
@Pittsburgh-L
TB-W
GB-W(the injury just sealed it imo)
@Phi-L
Bal-W
NYG-W
@Min-W(game matters more to Detroit)

10-5 leaving the bears game blank as it decides north. Lions won't get bye though.

Chicago
Det
Bal-W
@StL-W
@Min-W
Dal
@Cle
@Phi-W
GB-W

The bears could win out but neither will Dallas or Cleveland be easy games. I think the bears split those and the lions game decides 12-4 or 11-5

This means we cannot lose three more unless lions win the north or we will not get the bye. And its bad enough we already won in Chicago and having to go there again in January will not be the same result. Jeffery had 200 receiving yards in that game.

If lions win north and we beat SF
1.Seattle
2.us
3.Detroit
5.San Francisco
6.Chicago

If lions win north and we beat Seattle and SF both
1.us
2.SF
3.Detroit
5.Seattle
6.Chicago

If lions win north and we beat Seattle
1.SF
2.us
3.Detroit
5.Seattle
6.Chicago

If lions win division and we lose to both SF and Seattle
1.SF(If Sea loses in Atl)
1.Sea(if not)
2.us
3.Detroit
5.Sea/SF
6.Chicago

If bears win north(12-4) and we beat SF
1.Seattle
2.us
3.Chicago
5.SF
6.Detroit

If bears win north and we beat both SF/Seattle
1.us
2.SF
3.Chicago
5.Seattle
6.Detroit

If bears win north and we beat Seattle
1.SF
2.us
3.Chicago
5.Seattle
6.Detroit

If bears win north and we lose to both SF/Seattle
1.SF/Sea(Atl game for Sea)
2.Chicago
3.us
5.Sea/SF
6.Detroit

We need lions to win this week as most likely, in the playoffs, if Detroit and Chicago face off, the road team is winning. Especially if Detroit sweeps Chicago. Then we get Chicago or Detroit in the dome if we're 1 or SF or Seattle does. Either will beat them. We would beat them again or Detroit. But then the 2 seed is facing the 4 or 5 and if Dallas wins the east, I think they upset the wildcard. Meaning we or the west winner hosts them in divisional round. We would all win at home. This sets up the top two seeds to play in NFCCG.

I'd rather us beat SF and Seattle to take the 1 or lose to SF and they get the 1. If bears win Sunday I'm gonna hope we can beat SF or Seattle at least.

No, but its appearing each year that sometimes its bad thing to be too good. We just need to hope we don't get trapped by a different gameplan. One I'm concerned about is Chicago. They already have notes on us from week 5. And the 3 days rest between two big games is enough to weigh on us. How do we go and win a hard fought game against SF and then do it again in Atlanta four nights later?

You obviously have me at a disadvantage because I can not seem to make any sense of your last two postings. Please do not try to clarify, if at some point it happens to make come together for me, I will need to see a therapist.
