+1 head up at the point of contact, tackling 101. As another poster said, you will have a short career with the 'reckless abandon' approach.

I think it is appropriate to point out that Vaccaro got hit on the side of the head with a knee when he dove to the runner's legs on an angle.

You played ball? You can dive with your head up brother, swimmers do it all the time. The only players that can't do it well are those that wear a neck brace on their shoulder pads.

When you drop your pad level holding your head up put your helmet in line with your pads and you take a thigh to your shoulder. Drop your head and it's out there waiting for a thigh.

Vaccaros a great tackler but he should have just gone for wittens waist when he tackled and not laying out for the tackle with his head down

You go in with your head down in this sport, you will be lucky to walk off the field afterwards

we need harper back. he is our best run stopping safety. Vaccaro has shown flashes but he is no where near the point of being called steady. his loss hurts but it aint that big.

getting harper back is big news

He's certainly a good contributor, but simply having Harper back isn't the answer. I think its 90% on the front 7. That's who will have to contain Frank Gore, even if we have Harper and Vaccaro in the lineup.

Gore and Kaepernick... Containing both is key. Don't over penetrate unless you KNOW you have a line on Kaepernick.

I would rather give Kaepernick a few extra seconds to throw than have him bolt...
