+1 head up at the point of contact, tackling 101. As another poster said, you will have a short career with the 'reckless abandon' approach.

I think it is appropriate to point out that Vaccaro got hit on the side of the head with a knee when he dove to the runner's legs on an angle.

You played ball? You can dive with your head up brother, swimmers do it all the time. The only players that can't do it well are those that wear a neck brace on their shoulder pads.

When you drop your pad level holding your head up put your helmet in line with your pads and you take a thigh to your shoulder. Drop your head and it's out there waiting for a thigh.
