One other point I will mention on this since I haven't seen it mentioned here, is that at the end of that 'tackle' it appears to me that as Brees is going to the ground, Brooks grabs the bottom of Brees helmet and uses that to help him THROW Brees to the turf. Look at it and see what you think.

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks had his say about his Sunday clothesline hit on New Orleans Saints QB Dre Brees, claiming that it was perfectly legal and sugggested that officials gave him a personal foul due to the fact they were playing in the Superdome.

Now it's Brees' turn: "I think anyone that was watching the game real time, live speed, nobody's gonna sit there and say that wasn't a penalty," Brees said, via Chris Wesseling of NFL.com. "Now, when you slow it down, it looks like he hits me here, kind of in the chest. But I get up and my mouth was bleeding. So I don't know if you get hit in the chest and your mouth bleeds."

Brees added that he thinks Brooks is a "heck of a football player," a "hard-nosed, clean football player" even, but on that one particular play, he needed to be flagged for it.

"I can tell you how I felt when I got hit. It felt like I got my head ripped off," he said. "And I get up and I've got a mouth full of blood. So there was no doubt in my mind that, 'Hey, it's gonna be a penalty.'"

In an era where swipes at the ball graze the head gets a flag, does anyone really feel like this wouldn't get flagged?

If we would hit favre like that I say no penalty but deep down yeah, it's illegal. He made an effort to walk the fence and lean as much as he could on the wrong side.

There is one helluva big difference between 'offering' to pay and 'paying'. I will wait to see if Lewis does it.
