Re: Brooks fined
Looks like Ray Lewis is gonna be $7,785 lighter.
Bet his wife is giving him an ear full. |
Re: Brooks fined
He will appeal it of course.

Re: Brooks fined
A fine and a loss.. the loss was more than enough in my book.

Re: Brooks fined
Thug fine. He'll appeal it.
Instead of a teachable moment, Harbaugh and Brooks treat it as a clean hit. They should fine Harbaugh more than Brooks. Whiners are the dirtiest team in football right now. That could win you a SB ring in the 70's but not anymore. |
Re: Brooks fined
49'ers are the dirtiest team in football............and I feel like their coach is the most hated coach.

Re: Brooks fined
I don't understand the backlash from everyone outside of Saintsville on this hit. I've seen many hits on qb's and receivers that drew flags and fines and I'm like really. I generally side with the defense on these but that hit nearly took Brees' head off. I don't care if you watch it real speed or slomo.

Re: Brooks fined
Now with the lawsuit over the NFL shows that it doesn't care about player safety, I knew the "bounty" mess was a cover up but this proves it. That fine wasn't enough and if he had hit Manning of Brady that way, Brooks would have been banned from the league

Re: Brooks fined
That'll teach him!
Oh...wait...no it won't. |
Re: Brooks fined
I think $16k per Russell Wilson hit is easily affordable when we get to Seattle. ;)

Re: Brooks fined
Harbaugh may have coached at Stanford but he is clearly not the sharpest knife in the drawer -- backing his player's bad habits by failing teach how the game is played. Harbaugh is letting emotion take precedence over reason. That would never happen to Bill "most scintillating interview ever" Bellicheck.

Re: Brooks fined
What Guido said, ... the fine is in line with a second offense and what has been handed out to other players with similar hits/transgressions. That's really all you can ask in the NFL today,.

Re: Brooks fined
I am all for the penalty on the play... but a fine, that is just ridiculous.
It had no malicious intent. If he did then the other hand wouldn't have came around to protect Brees some from being slammed to the ground. It was a move to tackle that was just a little high otherwise it would have been fair play. Fines are getting ridiculous. Penalty was enough in this case. |
Re: Brooks fined
It may well be a ridiculous fine. The problem is, Goodell has established a precedence of ridiculous fines and he can't deviate from that. To not fine Brooks would invalidate half the fines he's handed out this season. He's 'fined/legislated' himself and the NFL into a corner, I'm afraid.

I was traumatized.... emotionally scarred brother. I have had to completely rethink my personality as the soft kitten like Oak was just to vulnerable. Way too much Mr. nice guy. After a PM I received that pointed out some people actually believe there is a personality association between people and their avatars (If that were the case mine would always be a kitten or puppy, maybe an angel). Ive been doing some testing since, and it seems that responses I get to my postings are heavily influenced by my avatars. Eastwood brought me all sort of nasty replies, Sean Payton was pretty neutral, people just do not like Spock at all, huge boobed women brought me 100% agreement. I have decided that since my thoughts are going to be judged as if my avatar were saying them, that I am going to have to go with something a little more neutral and closer to home. |

Re: Brooks fined
kicking someone in the balls sure fine but playing football and making an innocent mistake is something other. Where are the fines for holding?
|
Re: Brooks fined
how is it not malicious? He swung his arm at Brees' neck/head. A good football play would've been to lower the shoulder and drive it into the QB's back, but he chose to go high instead. And it cost him.
You need to look at the clip. His arm didn't swing, he purposely put it out and grabbed Bree's. He also used his other arm as he came around to brace and protect brees so Bree WASN't Slammed down to the ground. That to me would have be malicious intent. Punching Brees in the balls that is malicious intent... not making a football play that went wrong. |
