Seattle to sign CB

Seattle Seahawks to add Perrish Cox - ESPN

Not familiar with this guy but I can see drew picking on him.

Former Broncos and 40-Whiners CB. Depth signing I'm sure.

Winfield is a beast. If he comes out of retirement Seattle will be fine.

It will take him longer than this game to get in shape though.

Winfield was a beast about 4 seasons ago, not so sure now

Father time has brought him a walking stick

Re: Seattle to sign CB

Winfield is 36 and hasn't played, and apparently no one has expressed interest until now. If he is an upgrade over what they have, so be it

Fwiw, I'll be VERY surprised if Cox sees the field Monday night.

Expect to see Jeremy Lane (#20) and Byron Maxwell (#41) out there back-filling Browner and Thurmond.

If he is an upgrade, then they suck at CB and are desperate.

They're backups.

Realistically, I didn't expect of you to know who they are.

Just like I have no idea who the Saints backups are.

Actually Lane is a Louisiana player out of NSU. So I recognize his name. Only 10 tackles to his career stats in the NFL though. Maxwell I'm not familiar with but he hasn't had much more luck. I can see why the Hawks are looking.

You should know CB Chris Carr, a nine year vet, but you probably wouldn't know the rookie, Rod Sweeting.

We really don't have any true defensive "backups". Just about everyone plays in different schemes during each game.

That's why we don't miss a beat when someone goes down, because next man up just gets a few extra snaps each game...

Doh! We need to exploit dat defense.

Seattle promoted defensive back DeShawn Shead from the practice squad to take Cox's place on the roster.

They're starting to panic. Not enough guys to cover all these weapons. Two back-up CB's and a practice squad CB aren't going to get the job done.

A practice squad corner that hasn't been in a regular season game yet, good luck covering Moore... :jkool:

Re: Seattle to sign CB

Some analysts were talking about how Thurmond could of waited until after the Saints game to take his 4-game suspension, for obvious reasons they would rather have one of their better CB play against the Saints instead of being ready Week 17 against the Rams. But it works in our favor, Brees will have a nice day:)

It probably went down like this:

Seattle GM: Okay, Perrish, contract's ready -- just sign on the dotted line, and welcome to the Seattle Seahawks!

* Perrish signs, to a smattering of applause *

Seattle GM: Oh, and uh, one more thing, Perrish, we almost forgot -- just a formality you understand, but we will need you to pee in this cup. The league's substance abuse policy against weed and PED's. Standard for the NFL. No biggie.

Perrish: Uh, what? Uh-oh. I uh....I think I am gonna need to talk to my lawyer. Let me get back to you on that.

* Seattle rips up contract *
