Pierre Thomas Already Having Better Year Than 2012
Pierre Thomas is the lead back for the New Orleans Saints—and for good reason. Mark Ingram is having trouble getting more playing time in part thanks to how effective Thomas has been, while Darren Sproles continues in his niche role through the air.
Meanwhile, Thomas has already put up better numbers through 12 games than the stats he posted in 2012. Larry Holder of NOLA.com has the details: Through 11 games, Thomas has already surpassed his 2012 totals in rushing attempts and yards (2012: 105-473; 2013: 117-486), along with receptions and receiving yards (2012: 39-354, 2013: 56-406). He’s only going to add to these numbers as Saints coach Sean Payton has full trust in Thomas’ abilities. An impressive feat considering the Saints remain a pass-first team with Drew Brees under center. Thomas’ career high in yards is 793, so he stands a good shot of passing that total should this trend continue. It will take some work to pass his career-best nine touchdowns, but who knows. Once again the Saints have a reliable option in the backfield thanks to Thomas. Let’s see if he can beat those career bests. Thoughts? Pierre Thomas Already Having Better Year Than 2012 |
