Just cancelled the NFL Network.

I just cancelled the part of my package which contains the NFL Network. I can't watch this garbage anymore. The last straw was listening to Eric Davis (who is a complete moron) say that Mike Tomlin was not purposely trying to prevent Jacoby Jones from scoring a touchdown last night. Um, yeah, that's exactly what Tomlin was trying to do.

Also, Jeff Garcia is a complete moron as well, saying that the personal foul call on Ahmad Brooks for the Brees his was "a horrible call." Um, no Jeff, it was the right call and Brooks was rightly fined for it.

In addition, I just can't watch Deion anymore. Can't do it.

I don't understand why they got rid of Charles Davis, who was one of the only people I enjoyed listening to on the network. I also like Casserly, Billick, and a few others. In any case, I'm done with the NFL Network for the time being. I wish people would cancel en masse but it's probably not going to happen.

Nobody is going to ride the Saints nuts. Its just not going to happen. Steve Young, Terry Bradshaw, and Jon Gruden love us because of Payton and Brees, outside of them people align their biases elsewhere. Pretty much all analysts have some kind of bias. They're still fans and at times former players, so they like who they like. Don't let it bother you.

Worse still is there are other channels with different idiots.

You see... this is why they call it the "Idiot Box". Not because it full of idiots, but instead... that you have to be an idiot to believe anything is says.

Seems like they all get their information from Adam Schefter or Jay Glazer anyway, so why waste the money?

They get paid for reactions like yours, however unlike most people you are looking the other way rather than continuing to watch the car wreck.

You do realize that there is the mute button? I find that it is a very useful feature, especially when you can get WWL radio.

+1. Charles D. has been in the booth with Gus Johnson covering college ball (specifically Pac10 & Big 12) so his plate is probably too full for much else. I always enjoyed his analysis on the Network because of his defensive (I think he was safety in college) minded philosophy and approach.

What's even more disturbing is the while it's true some of the NfLN guys are morons, it's still better than anything ESPN has to offer. What's a guy to do?

Seems like there's a lot of that going around...

Choose between AWFUL and WORSE THAN AWFUL...

Disagree with the comment about Bradshaw - he's from Louisiana (even if it is North Louisiana where they think they should be there own state ;) ); but he's not shy of his bias for the Saints (though he was critical of same during that fuzzy nightmare we had B.C.P. (Before Coach Payton))...

Heath Evans and Darren Sharper of course tend to trumpet the Saints. Albert Breer tends to like us also.

But I agree that Deion and Mike Irvin are very hard to listen to. Then add in Tomlinson who is simply a horrible speaker. It's almost laughable that he is on TV.

And I thought it was me. I'm usually watching the game in mute with wwl radio. When I do listen its to hear about the rest of the league to gage my WhoDat's

NFL Radio has it going on though...
Tim Ryan
Pat Kirwin
Ross Tucker
Amani Toomer
Jim Miller
Rich Gannon
Bill Polia
James Lofton - I just listened to him for the 1st time today...wow, he should be on NFL Network.

I could listen to most of their line-up all day long. Even Booger McFarlane is great. He sounds dumb as a rock at times but occasionally his insight knocks it out of the park.

Yes but why I would I continue to pay a monthly fee to just use the mute button anyway? The only real reason I got the NFL Network was to watch the Thursday games, but then I realized it really wasn't worth the fee just to watch one game per week.

I love James Lofton. I listen to him on the radio every week if I can.

I just dont like the way they sit around and just talk about stuff.
show me the goods.

and when you're doing highlights, stop trying to be funny, and doing all
that smack, and just freakin tell me the story of the game.

Why he's not much further up the analyst totem pole is beyond me. He is excellent.

Articulates like a studio host, but with the football IQ of any player I've ever heard.

Re: Just cancelled the NFL Network.

Radio is the way to go, seems like they're more articulate, they got callers calling in, you can change stations as needed or if they get too out there and if you got to go somewhere, you can still get it in the car ... I listen to the radio all day long, though I do like Terry/Howie/Michael/Jimmy on Fox,.

I only caught him for the 1st time for about an hour today. Is he always that impressive?

Sorrry Clint you really got so fed up with the NFL Net that you had to cancel it.
I like looking at NFL Net for the recap of games on a Sunday night.
Mike Irvin was drunk on air a few weeks ago.
I like Marshall Faulker.

In my opinion, yes. Personally, I could listen to the man read the phone book. And his cohost is really good too. I just can't remember his name at the moment. Might be Scott something....

I'm keeping it. Heck, its better than all of the "reality" shows with paid actors anyway.

Eric Davis, I caught him this morning for the first time and I wanted to beat his square nerd face to a pulp and smash his glasses.

Wouldn't it be nice to have an a la carte service instead?

I use to watch it all the time. When Rich Eisen left it kind of got really bad. I love Nicole Z, but thats just to look at. It use to be great

The One thing I like is the live game and NFL Replay.

Re: Just cancelled the NFL Network.

... another point on this topic is, with the direction Goodell is taking the league, how much football do you think you'll be watching in 5-10yrs anyway? I watch way less football than I used to and follow way less closely with all the stupid rule changes, fines/penalties, lawsuits, locker room drama, yada, yada, yada,.

Re: Just cancelled the NFL Network.

When the NFL network first arrived, they had LOTS of old games they replayed. That was great! They eventually steered away from them and now play just an occasional old game. Throw in their horrible in house analyst on their pre and post game stuff, and their horrible coverage of actual live broadcasts, and you have a monumental waste of time.

I prefer to keep my nose. DirecTV comes with a remote and it has an option to change the channel.
