But, when Saints coach Sean Payton wanted to know about how to handle the noise in Seattle for Monday night's game, he texted Favre. Payton figured that Favre might know, considering the Vikings dealt with a lot of noise in that NFC title game at the Superdome. And got the exact advice he was looking for.

Lisa Salters of ESPN reported on Favre helping the Saints just before kickoff:

Noise wasn't the problem. The plugs probably helped. But plugs don't block or catch or throw.

Why does it feel like it reads like this:

"Brett Favre, who was once shot and killed by the evil Saints organization, attempts to help the shooter who killed him a few years earlier."

Target, he wasn't a Target. He was the Viking QB.

Payton: Hey Brett, it's me, Payton. We're on our way to Seattle this week. You got any tips or ideas on how to beat this loud crowd noise? Any suggestions?

Favre: Yeah, Sean, I'll tell you what, bro -- the earplugs we had, really worked, they were really swell. Let me get the name of the guy who made them for us. I've got his business card, somewhere in my desk drawer in the cabin, out back of my ranch here in Mississippi. I'll get his number and ring you right back."

Payton: "OK, great." Hangs up.

Favre picks up phone again and dials Joe Earplugs: "Hi, Joe Earplugs, it's me,, Brett Favre from the Vikings. Remember when you sold us them earplugs? Listen, Joe, I've got a client, a big order for you in pipeline, he's a big time NFL coach, if you play this right, he is gonna order twenty or thirty pair of those earplugs from you, he's desperate. Get a load of this Joe - this bastard put a bounty on me, now he's gotta go to Seattle to play, and he's asking ME, what to do about the noise, can you believe that? Now I want to send him to you, Joe, I want to give you his name, but you'll have to cut me a slice. I want 15% off the top. No, make that 18%. And charge him as much as you can. "

Joe Earplugs: "Yeah, Brett, sure. Send him to us. You got it. You get 18% of all earplug sales, like a commission. We get the order, and I'll cut you a check this week. Tell him to give me a call."

Joe hangs up.

Brett: "Hey Sean, it's me again.I've got his number, his name is Joe Earplugs. Make sure you tell him that Brett sent you, he's gonna give you a special rate, because I did this special deal just for you. They are expensive but you are gonna LOVE these earplugs, my man."

Sean: "Sure thing, Brett."

We all knew about the earplugs. Why would Sean Payton ask Favre about them? Why would Payton tell the ESPN reporter? Seems silly.

A good detail to address. Nothing wrong with checking the box on details but show up without a stronger will than the opponent and you are going to lose and that's what happened is what I witnessed. Bring back the bats rights now. Every game from here on out is a bat game. We have to take care of business.

I think we should've used hand signals not just words. I think Peyton uses Hand signals in away games.
