Press Man Coverage our Kryptonite

Patriots Played press against our offense and we stalled, didn't watch the jets game but I'm pretty sure they did too & the Seahawks on Monday night even jimmy graham isn't as productive when he gets pressed, Where is Colston, Lance, Kenny, Nick Toon? Can anybody not name Jimmy Graham get separation from db's. With that being said our line still has to play better but even when Drew had time in the pocket Monday night NOBODY was open. I'm starting to think we need a true #1 WR who can do it ALL I'm a huge fan of Colston & Co. I think they're undderated or are they because when the game gets physicall they disappear Maybe I'm wrong but we wil find out sooner or later

Re: Press Man Coverage our Kryptonite

Playing Press against us tells me they do not fear any speed from our receivers, a check at the line of scrimmage slows the routs so drew has to hold the ball longer.

Since we have been running the same routes for how many years I can understand why some teams play us that way.

And that's why I think we miss Joe Morgan he was a big play guy who got separation and could catch I just wish Toon would turn it up some notches Like Michael Floyd

Cover-2 used to give us fits too, then along came our cover-2 killer Jimmy Graham.

Joe Morgan is pretty much Kenny Stills both are the deep threat and both have little experience. I'm hoping Sean changes things up.. if we as fans can see ur doing the same ol thing I'm sure the opponent can too.

Issue #1 can Joe Morgan stay off IR. he does us no good lounging in a whirlpool and riding a bike.

If we are addressing WR help it has to be the need for big tough WR that excels in the middle of the defense and out in the flats. a bigger version of Lance Moore. still waiting on lance to make his impact.

Moore and Colston have both fallen off the map, age + injuries. Colston is SO SLOW these days, it's like those slant routes and buttonhooks that he used to run for easy 10-yard gains are now 3 and 4 yard gains. Not having a true threat at wide receiver is killing us. Whether they are playing zone or man doesn't make a bit of difference. There's a reason why the overwhelming majority of Brees' passes go to the tight ends and running backs.

Stills is a much more complete WR than Morgan imo.

Carolina's DB's struggle and aren't really that good. It's just getting the ball to that point that will be the challenge.

Re: Press Man Coverage our Kryptonite

It's simple.

Press coverage throws off the timing of timing routes.

Seattle CBs are good at it... yes, even their backups are good at it.
