Saints Overtake The Falcons
While doing a bit of research this evening a very notable fact became apparent. For the first time in the history of the longtime rivals, the New Orleans Saints and the Atlanta Falcons, the Saints have surpassed the Falcons in total regular season victories. The Saints' week 12 17-13 win over the Falcons brought the franchise record to 315-394-5. The Falcons loss dropped them to 314-411-6. A Falcons' win in week 13 coupled with a Saints' loss evened up the historical standing once again, but this week the Saints regained the lead with win number 316 while the Falcons remained mired at 315.
It may have taken 46 years, but the Saints (with one less year in the league) have pushed yet another pin into the body of that mangy feathered voodoo doll. :bng: |

a brees will melt that in no time. |
Re: Saints Overtake The Falcons
Atlanta still leads the all-time series 47-43. We should be able to even that up in 2 years.

Re: Saints Overtake The Falcons
We still hold the more important records against Atlanta .
Super Bowls 1-0 NFC Championship Games 1-0 Should take them a few coaches to even tie it. |

Re: Saints Overtake The Falcons
Falcons still lead the overall series between the Saints and Falcons 46-43.
The gap has closed fast. In the pre-Dome Patrol era the gap was WIDE. Jackson, Swilling, Mills and Johnson changed EVERYTHING forever! The Falcons also had bragging rights over the Saints not only head to head, but also playoff appearance, especially having won the division in 1980. Again, the Dome patrol stopped that streak dead in its tracks. Division wins between the Falcons and Saints are now in a dead heat - 5 to 5. If we win the division this year, the Saints can one-up on the Falcons AGAIN in overall division wins in divisions we've shared with the dirty birds since the beginning. ATL (5) – 1980, 1998, 2004, 2010, 2012 NO (5) – 1991, 2000, 2006, 2009, 2011 WIN THE DIVISION THIS YEAR AND WIN BRAGGING RIGHTS ON OVERALL DIVISION WINS!!!! |
Re: Saints Overtake The Falcons
no matter what the win/loss records are, atlanta will always suck really badly.
